Sean Hannity’s Freedom CONcert Scam
Debbie Schlussel ^ | March 18 2010 | Debbie Schlussel

Posted on 08/29/2010 9:43:59 PM PDT by Byron Norris

For the last several years, Sean Hannity and the Freedom Alliance “charity” have conducted “Freedom Concerts” across America. They’ve told you that they are raising money to pay for the college tuition of the children of fallen soldiers and to pay severely wounded war vets. And on Friday Night, Hannity will be honored with an award for this “Outstanding Community Service by a Radio Talk Show Host” at Talkers Magazine’s convention.

But it’s all a huge scam.

In fact, less than 20%–and in two recent years, less than 7% and 4%, respectively–of the money raised by Freedom Alliance went to these causes, while millions of dollars went to expenses, including consultants and apparently to ferry the Hannity posse of family and friends in high style. And, despite Hannity’s statements to the contrary on his nationally syndicated radio show, few of the children of fallen soldiers got more than $1,000-$2,000, with apparently none getting more than $6,000, while Freedom Alliance appears to have spent tens of thousands of dollars for private planes. Moreover, despite written assurances to donors that all money raised would go directly to scholarships for kids of the fallen heroes and not to expenses, has begun charging expenses of nearly $500,000 to give out just over $800,000 in scholarships.

I know this is a rather old post but I was curious as to what most conservatives out there think of this. I don't know what to believe anymore about most of the attacks coming from people these days if there is any truth to this or not, but I think it is rather disheartening if not an eye opener if it is actually true about what is wrong with conservative politics. I really don't know what to think especially since the GOP puts up disasters such as, in my own opinion, Sarah Palin and John McCain. Perhaps the Republican party needs to return to its roots and do itself a favor by ridding itself of the corrupt, inept, and RINOs who are dragging it down. What it needs is a strong, articulate, and well informed leader who can help fix the economy and put the USA on a rebound. Maybe I'm wrong but I'd like to know what your thoughts are out there, FR.

We needed him/her 20 years ago. What we was got Bush, Clinton, Bush and Obama. We have a media that wouldn't know the truth if they saw it.

Maybe too late.

Schlussel is sometimes on the mark, sometimes a weird, Ron Paul-like weirdo.

I like them both (Paul and Schlussel) but clearly have issues with some of their deal points.

Hannity...I have no idea if it’s true or not.

Schlussel was thoroughly debunked and lucky she didn’t get sued. That’s why she faded into the woodwork.

We all know Hannity is a simpleton, but I think there was a fairly robust and decent rebuttal to the attention starved Schlussmeister. That’s why the accusations didn’t lead anywhere. If Hannity was involved in a provable corruption, do you seriously think it wouldn’t have been all over MSNBC for the last 6 months?

Byron-

I don’t know where you been for the past couple of months, but this sleaze from Schlussel has been thoroughly debunked! She can’t read a financial report yet claims to be knowledgable of Hannity’s operations. Her claims are bogus and you should have known that, unless you are a leftwing troll? Well, are you??

What I think is that this post is utter and total bull crap. Tell lies and site bs information to support those lies has become the MO of hack liberals.

Not buying it. Anybody can post anything, and Hannity has lots of enemies, hangers on, swooning groupies and heavy handed political hatchet thugs. This is too easy. Sean knows he is under the microscope and October surprises can start early.

No, I don’t have enough time to pay attention to politics like I use to. I’m in the Army having just returned from Afghanistan. I’m anything but that, I would like to see someone step up and represent the GOP and conservative values in the next election.

Hannity isn’t my favorite even still. I prefer Limbaugh overall and Glenn Beck occassionaly has said things I agree with. I do agree with his call for Americans to find God again at his ‘Restoring Honor’ rally a great message.

I don’t understand these tuition fund-raisers for children of fallen troops. The US Dept. of Veterans Affairs already has a government-funded program for that. Take a look:

It would have been the dominant topic for weeks if there were any proof.

I am unconvinced.

Well, this WAS posted way back in March. Why not go back and find one of those threads and read it?

In reading the article, I was struck by the fact that there were no names given...sm was denied this, and another sm was denied that...

A real useful device when you want to avoid being sued for making things up.

It's not the job of Limbaugh, Beck, and Hannity to represent the GOP. "GOP" and "conservative" don't necessarily go together.
