Ken Mehlman is gay? Most right-leaning political junkies probably responded by asking, Who is Ken Mehlman? or Yeah, but who cares?
Conservative bloggers either ignored the topic or pointed out that conservatives arent necessarily surprised or outraged by the news.
I had absolutely no idea Ken Mehlman was gay, or existed, wrote the Daily Callers Jim Treacher in response to the New York Times piece that marveled at the muted reaction of Republicans to the announcement.
The former RNC chairman and President Bushs 2004 campaign manager announced that he was gay to the Atlantics Marc Ambinder, and also announced his intentions to support the case for same-sex marriage.
As Washington media columnist Howard Kurtz noted, Mehlmans sexuality was an open secret in Washington and the news failed to surprise many of the people who knew him.

Their stereotypes of Conservatives are so blantantly sexist, racist and bigoted. And they don’t even see it.
Ken Mehlman? How gay a name is that.
I thought that was the name of Barbi’s
metrosexual male doll friend.
I couldn’t care anymore if Ken Mehlman was gay than I cared that Lee Atwater owned Red, Hot & Blue.
Open secret is that he is a 5th columnist.

So if somebody is straight but sexually deviant that’s okay?
Does it matter if he helps conservatives lose elections and positions of influence?
You think gay people are friends of conservatives?
announced his intentions to support the case for same-sex marriage.
Good luck finding conservative clients with that baggage, Ken.
Mehlman has been the old fashion style of “gay”, in that he kept his mouth shut, was a focused workaholic, and nobody knew. Now he has opened his mouth, bannered up his condition, and lost ground with conservatives who don’t want to hear someone publically defining themselves by their private life, in order to further gay marriage, gay lifestyle, etc., etc. Sickening.
That's his business, not mine. Put me down as a conservative that does not consider his personal choices in life my business.
Far more important things to work on, like averting a total and complete financial meltdown of this country.
He doesn't fit the mould of the traditional values plank of the GOP or the outright principles of the Conservatives.
I care. I won't take that gamble of some sodomite establishment-type in places of power, dictating the future of the GOP and Conservative movement.
On many issues, yes.
The liberal media is using him as a spokesperson to create dissension among the rank and file.
That said, Mehlman can go pound sand or whatever it is gays do. This scumbag was head of the RNC & Bush's campaign manager at a time when Bush was targeting social conservatives. The fact that he's now out there championing homosexual marriage just shows you that the only thing homosexuals care about is what fruity alcohol beverage they're drinking and who they're sleeping with.
Couldn’t care less that he is gay.
I couldn’t care less, but if he pushes for same sex marriage like the article says, then it’s a different matter.
If he would have been outed in 2004, he would have destroyed Bush's re-election chances and you'd be saying hello to President Kerry. So no, that wouldn't have helped conservatives win elections.
He's working in a capacity that influences public policy. We're not talking about Wal-Mart here.
Far more important things to work on, like averting a total and complete financial meltdown of this country.
Giving "married" homosexual couples tax benefits and legal guardianship over children would destroy our country much faster than Keynesian economics.
