Honestly, numbers have been guesstimated, distorted, and exploited for political gain at rallies for so long, it’s hard to believe numbers for any event that happens where tickets aren’t scanned like at a sports arena.
If there were only 87000 people present, given the size of the crowd, than many many events in the past that have been quoted as having huge numbers were certainly overstated.
The NBC evening news said hundreds of thousands. I thought Lester Holt was going to choke...

I was there and it was packed (like sardines in some places) between the Lincoln Memorial and Washington Monuments. I could hear but never saw the stage as I walked the perimeter. Seemed like more people than the big one last year. My guess is 250,000 or more.

I plan to watch election night on MSNBC. I want to see how Rachel, Keith, Ed, Chris Mathews, etc. spin the bad news for Democrats that night. And if they have to report the worst, such as Democrats losing control of at least one house of Congress, I would love to see their reactions to that, as election returns come in.
