U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano on Thursday ranked Chicago’s Big Brother network of well over 10,000 public and private surveillance cameras as one of the nation’s most extensive and integrated — and Mayor Daley wants to make it even bigger.

I think that more cameras should be used to mail traffic tickets. Every day that I’m in Chicago, I notice that about 2/3 of the drivers make right turns into left lanes, make left turns into right lanes, and/or change lanes without signaling. Bus and cab drivers are some of the worst drivers. I see a police officer give a ticket, about once every five months. If all of the law-breakers got tickets, the city would get more money, and they wouldn’t have a $600 million deficit.
