KATHY IRELAND SEES NEW LOW IN POLITICS

There are so many warning signs that negativity is devouring honest political discourse in our country, and one of these recently made me a very unwilling part of it. When misogyny becomes part of victory at any price, our democracy is embarrassed and endangered.

Here's what happened, and here's why I'm angry and why I feel any American of whatever party or gender should be furious too.

Suddenly it was widely reported on the Internet that a GOP political blog in Minnesota had posted a disgusting video that proclaimed Republican women -- candidates and supporters -- are attractive and that their Democratic counterparts are, in the most disturbing and distorted photo presentations in their video, just the opposite. This vulgarity and flat-out misrepresentation of all women identified as Democrats was to the accompaniment of the rock song "Who Let the Dogs Out?" That shows the level of maturity.

As expected, she bashes Republicans only, specifically the MN group who included her in their “hot” category while stating that the dem’s women are not. Further, she specifies that while she is pro-life, she is not necessarily a Republican.

I’ve met other pro-lifers who ultimately vote democrap, and I just don’t get it.

I normally like Kathy Ireland, but I think she's upset about nothing here. It was a joke - maybe in bad taste, but a joke none the less.

People these days are just way too sensitive - always seem to be looking for a reason to be offended or victimized.

I can see where some might find a blog post to be offensive. OTOH, where was Kathy when Condoleezza Rice was being called a "house slave" and Aunt Jemima, or Katherine Harris' was being mocked for her makeup. These attacks, of course, where not done on blog posts but in major media outlets or by celebrities.

How about the attacks on Paula Jones?

Another thing, making fun of someone's looks because they have a goiter or some other deformity is rather rotten. In the video, though, the Republican girls appear so much more attractive not because of features but because they are smiling and/or they don't have psycho looks of hatred in their eyes.
