SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- USA Today, the nation's second largest newspaper, is making the most dramatic overhaul of its newroom staff in its almost 30-year history in an effort deliver stories more quickly to mobile devices and produce more coverage likely to sell advertising.

The makeover outlined Thursday will result in about 130 layoffs this fall, USA Today Publisher Dave Hunke told The Associated Press. That translates into a 9 percent reduction in USA Today's work force of 1,500 employees. He did not give a breakdown by departments for the layoffs.

Is this the new model where they send out free-lancers who have to take their own pictures and TV footage?

They are not trusted or read. Where is the business case for clear lies and propaganda?

USA Today shaking up staff in 'radical' overhaul

They are going to assign some radical reporters from national news to international news and move other radical reporters from international news over to national.

I did my part and unsubscribed several years ago.

What used to be a fun paper to read . . . turned into trash

It’s a colorful door mat that they put in front of your hotel room door each morning.

We're laying off workers, but are we getting better?

We're laying off workers.

But are we getting better?

USA Today is laying off lots of workers.

This is part of a trend:

* Shorter paragraphs.

* Shorter attention spans.

* Shorter.

_____________________

How we're shrinking:

* 130 layoffs

* Fewer readers

* Less advertising revenue

“USA Today shaking up staff in ‘radical’ overhaul”

They must be laying off all the colorful piechart makers. Individual story writers will now have to make their own colorful piecharts.

“USA Today shaking up staff in ‘radical’ overhaul.”

I think it means that they are going to move even further Left to try and match the Big Zero in his faith to Marx and Mohammed.
