Britain will be forced to borrow U.S. warplanes to fly from the Royal Navy's new aircraft carriers because of defence cuts, the Daily Mail can reveal.
The Navy's Harrier Jump Jets - the aircraft that won renown in the Falklands conflict - are to be retired early leaving the two new carriers with no aircraft when they come into service.
Under the plans, the U.S. Marines would be invited to fly from the British carriers in joint operations and the Navy is also examining the prospect of leasing aircraft from the Americans

The USA is far more insolvement than the UK by the way. England’s one saving grace is they did not elect a muslim to run their country. Blair was close enough.

And this is the most capable allied Navy we have. Heaven help us if Obama tells Gates to gut our own Navy, because we have no backup plan.
My fav.I always had a thing for them ever since our family friend told us stories about his escapades flying them in France, when we were 8 year old kids.
Absolutely gorgeous aircraft,they even smelled good.A mix of oil , cosmoline, fuel, canvas, rubber and cordite.MAny from my family’s neck of the woods flew in the Battle of Britain or served as ground crew.
They were young,foolish at times, and used to do wicked things not reported in the history books, like emptying their ammo trays and filling them with lobster to fly back to their mess halls.
Shuffle board tournaments anyone? ;-)
