Do FL FReepers REALLY think Rick Scott can win in Florida?
Today | Me

Posted on 08/25/2010 8:36:42 AM PDT by St. Louis Conservative

This race will be about one thing: Rick Scott paid the largest fine in U.S. history for "robbing seniors". Sink and the Dems and the media will not differentiate between Scott and his company. This race will not be about issues - it will be about Rick Scott and about how he is a so-called felon.

Yes - I know he won the primary, but this ain't good.

Makes one wonder whether democrats became republicans for one election cycle just to get to make Scott the candidate.

What was this all about?

Nice way to jump in and toss water on a republican victory, by the way.

Now was this ‘fine’ because of some bureaucratic thing? Freepers know you can generally fins SOME LAW that has been broken for anyone. Especially if you are an incumbant and want to get the goods on potential rivals.

I personally know some one who was fined and agreed to pay it just because he could not possibly understand the rules.

I voted McCollum but yes, I think Scott can win. I did some research today and Scott wanted to fight the allegations against Columbia Healthcare, the board wanted the settlement, so he was forced out. Scott polled better by Rasmussen on Aug 2 against the Dems than McCollum. So he can win. I voted McCollum but McCollum’s flip flops on illegals really hurt his cause; no reason for the conservatives to be excited. Scott’s money might even help get out the vote ops in FL so he could surprise all us mainstream types.

Scott's company paid the fine after he left. Scott wasn't fined or arrested.

His opponent was a RINO who had flip flopped on Abortion, Gun Rights, and Immigration.

What are you suggesting? Do you think we should vote for the Democrat?

My current marxist congressman paid the record fine in the state of Michigan for campaign finance violations.

Only in politics can you break the law to get a job, get caught and still keep the job.

It may not be good, but didn’t his board ask him to step down because he wanted to fight the charges and they didn’t? Thus, he didn’t pay the fine and in fact he himself wasn’t found guilty of wrongdoing, if I understand correctly.

Indeed, it seems like a questionable past for a candidate in FL, but inaccuracies don’t help anyone.

FL FReepers better do every damn thing they can to make sure Scott is elected over the other evils on the ballot.

He is not a “so-called felon”

Felon has a very specific meaning. Someone who was not arrested, charged, tried, and convicted is not a felon.

Can he win?.... Yes.

Will he win?... Now that is a different question.

No doubt a lot of forces will be marshaled against him. And leading the parade will be nearly all the mainstream media. Including newspapers that endorsed him in the primary.

Are you serious with this analysis... Are you working for the Sink campaign?

a few thoughts:

1) Scott gave a deposition in that fraud case. It remains under seal and he refuses to release it. You know that a copy of that thing will surface in the next 70 days.

2) Sink had competition and didn’t run away with the Dem nomination.

3) Bud Chiles, son of the late “he coon” governor Lawton, is running as an independent. He’ll take votes away from Sink, not Scott.

4) Sink has already named her running mate, and it’s some goober in Gainesville. Dem votes and money are in South Florida, Sink’s not oriented her campaign in that direction.

Feelings here in Nashville and amongst healthcare management movers and shakers I know personally is that Rick Scott is snake oil.

I was shocked when at the beach earlier this year in Seaside and learning this was the same Rick Scott.

But who knows?

man I bet McCullom is fuming....he can always go back to being a World Series of Poker announcer (sarc...he does look just like that guy)

Matt...come up for air dude.

I’m not saying it’s correct or right. I’m saying how the situation will be framed by Sink and the media. McCollum already did much of the leg work for them.

As an Iowan, I know nothing about this guy or this race. But I do know that at some point, what the Dems have done to seniors will put to shame anything they are accusing this guy of doing.
