The Republican primary for the third congressional district is heating up as September approaches. Even to have a Republican primary for this seat is nothing short of astounding but to have five candidates vying for it is even more astounding. Running for the seat are Robert Chipman, Robert Delle, Marty Lamb, Michael Stopa, and Brian Herr.
The most notable of these candidates is Marty Lamb who has quite a presence on Facebook. It was much to my amusement today that I saw a post from his campaign on my Facebook news feed. I replied to it reminding everyone that Mr. Lamb was a Democrat for many years and contributed to Tom Daschle's campaign. A reply instantly was posted reminding me that Ronald Reagan was once a Democrat and asking me if I ever made a mistake.
My reply was simple. Yes, I have made mistakes but I'm not running for office. Checking back a few minutes later I saw that my comments had been deleted. To the Lamb campaign I ask, what are you hiding? Do you not want the voters to know your past? Are you ashamed of it? Do you not want people to know your voting history? Your past campaign contributions? Why did you just change to the Republican party now?
Something is rotten in Denmark.
Face Book?
If he is ashamed of being a former Democrat, I would call that a good thing.
Not in MA—where it more likely means the Dems have put a candidate on the other team in a tough year. (E.g., note the Democrat state treasurer running as an independent for governor.)
Sounds like a straw.

Unless he’s a RINO (stealth DemonRAT).
It would be wonderful if we could defeat the smarmy, sneering Leftist McGovern.
He has taken a lot of grief from his family for even registering much less running as a Republican. The other candidates might be equally strong, I don’t know (I am not in the district though I am in MA), but he is no straw. He deserves to be taken seriously. All the candidates deserve to be researched carefully and let’s hope whichever Republican runs against McGovern is supported and is able to WIN.
If he were a Straw he’d be just about the deepest undercover agent the dems have ever created. How many Straws announce their candidacy at the Boston Tea Party back in 2009? Long before being a “Tea Partier” was the cool thing to do?
BTW, I do live in the district and follow this race. He’s answered your question dozens of times. Sure he was a dem, about 20 years ago. He spent the next two decades as an independent. He also gave money to Democrat politicians, as well as Republicans as a member of a non-partisan issue oriented group. This is the same thing that the NRA does btw.
If he were trying to hide any of these facts, why would he openly talk about them, and even go so far as to go on a syndicated talk radio show (Howie Carr) to let the world know?
If he deleted your comment it’s probably because theirs tons of misinformation out there about his past and he chocked your post up to another attack by one of his opponents. If you’re dying for answers to your questions, why don’t you try reaching out to him by emailing him or calling him? It’s not like he’s hard to get a hold of.
