Jennifer Aniston is in hot water for using a politically incorrect term on Live with Regis & Kelly Thursday morning.
While promoting her flick The Switch, Aniston discussed her recent Barbra Streisand-inspired photo shoot for Harpers Bazaar on the show. "Yeah, I got to play dress up, Jen said to Regis, I do it for a living, like a retard!"
Now, disability advocates are bashing the actress for her word choice.
A rep for the Special Olympics tells Us Weekly, "People with intellectual disabilities have fought their whole lives for understanding and recognition. When people continue to use the R word, it's hurtful."

How could any human male leave *that*?
Think about it!!!
The more I think about it, the less I understand.
Advocates? Folks who advocate being retarded? As if it were a good thing?
What a bunch of retards.
I think she got tired of Brad's issues....
I have been called a "retard" and a "spaz" more times than I could count in my life. The term doesn't just apply to people who are "developmentally challenged" or whatever the current politically correct term is, it applies to anyone who does something stupid. I guess the next step is to demonize anyone who says someone is "stupid" or "idiotic".
I HATE political correctness more than I could ever HATE being called a retard.
In ten years it will be verboten to call someone "developmentally challenged" because that is going to be the new derogatory term to call someone who does something retarded.
You've been suckered into the politically correct message. Get over it. Kids call kids names all the time. That is just part of life. If they can't use one term, they will use another and pretty soon that term will be banned by the politically correct do gooders who have destroyed our language.
That being said, she was joking around.
Not guilty.
you do understand the word “retard” does mean slow, and can be used in different context’s, now if I walked up to someone who is retarded and called them a retard, that that would be wrong, but to used the word “retard” is not wrong just depend on the context.
Too much time in the sun or bad makeup. It makes her look very mannish. The scary thing is, seriously, she looks kind of like my best buddy from 8th grade to this day in those photos, and that is not a good thing.
Thank you for speaking up for “developmentally disabled” people everywhere, apparently “retard” is indeed the word we use to describe them, they own the word and no one else can use it.
She has a nice body, but she’s obviously a skank.
She can be a ‘tard if she wants to.
I agree with you. The way our language has evolved, "retard" no longer refers to people who are challenged in their intellectual skills. It refers to people who say or do something that they didn't completely think out and wish they had.
This whole thing with unacceptable words just stops language from evolving and burdens our thought processes. We're concentrating too much on what are acceptable words and not getting to the person or message behind them. She didn't slander anyone; Aniston just spoke in an honest way.
I'll be in the minority here. I like Jennifer Aniston as an actress. She brings something positive to every role. And this one....I thought it was more of a satire about relationships today.
I’m visiting my younger sister when my oldest does something that prompts me to call him a ‘tard. My 17 year old niece immediately chastises me for using the term. I tell her that retard has many connotations and denotations. She says she does not care. It’s just LAME to use the term. So I ask her how the physically impaired feel about her use of THAT term. She said it was not the same because she did not know that it meant handicapped. I suggested she work on her vocabularly.
There's nothing obvious about it at all, and I'm willing to reserve judgment until she proves it to me personally.
Anybody who would kick her out of bed is a retard of the first order.
Or a queer.
