Forty-seven years after Martin Luther King, Jr., gave his famous "I Have a Dream" speech from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, a different type of rally will be convening there. And it is already causing national uproar.
The controversial Fox News host's comments against some churches provokes anger.Conservative commentator Glenn Beck's plans to host a "Restoring Honor" rally on Aug. 28 to "celebrate America" has brought objections from some civil rights leaders, who say picking the anniversary of King's speech is a deliberate way to distort King's message.
Rev. Al Sharpton, president of the National Action Network -- which is also planning a large march that day that ends in the same spot -- has called Beck's event an "outright attempt to flip the imagery of Dr. King." Sharpton said Beck is "circumventing him and distorting him."
Beck, for his part, claims ignorance, saying that he initially planned the rally for Sept. 12, but then realized it was Sunday and didn't want anyone to work on the sabbath. The controversial talk show host attributed the coincidence to "divine providence."
snip/ The New Black Panther Party's Malik Zulu Shabazz has warned that Beck's group will be met with "direct opposition" from his group.

Oh, but of course, Dr. King's message was about anything but Honor. (eye roll)
MLK, a great, historic American knew the skinny!!! The real power lies in the individual heart and mind of the person. Not in some ordained power and gift from Government. There is no free lunch and.....MLK knew it!!! Obama, Sharpton, Jackson, Shabazz, Farrakhan, etc., etc. are no friends of Black folks, just the same old slave masters masked in Black skin. Maybe someday Black folks will get it!!!! Hope so!!!!
Is Tawana Brawley speaking at Sharpton's Rally?
The right owns the moral high ground.
Would Dr. King approve the abortion slaughter of millions of unborn babies?
Would Dr. King approve preferential hiring and education based solely on race?
Would Dr. King approve of the slavery of African-Americans through government stipends which subsidize destruction of the family?
The race hucksters now using the “Civil Rights moniker” to shakedown money to pay for their whores and illegitimate babies have nothing to do with the legacy of MLK.
God bless Beck and those who are waking up in Spirit and in Truth. The enemy of God hates light. Let it shine. Let it shine.
We even have jacka$$es who say they are “conservative” like that a$$hat radio host Michael Smerconish against Beck for some of the things he said about the President.
I listened to Michael one day while driving to work, and he was up in arms about it! Saying that Beck was basically a racist for saying that Obama had a deep seated hatred for white people.
Methinks there is a tagline in there somewhere...
Have at it, mate!
Praise and yell twice as loud on my behalf.
I don't have the self-control to possibly confront the scum, and not ruin the event.
The “Civil Rights” coalitions have worked assiduously over the years to secure the idea that Martin Luther King created a legacy that belongs to all Americans.
Now, since Marxism, Progressivism, Liberalism and anything but Americanism absorbs their political agenda, they demand that King’s legacy belongs to no one but them.
Hypocrites.
Yes, she will.
First, it hasn't. Second, Dr. King was a great man who would be absolutely appalled by the actions of these so-called 'Black Empowerment' groups and race pimps like Sharpton and Jackson.
And what has it gotten us? Out of power, our society decaying, and our Republic teetering on the edge of the abyss. Oooo-rah. While we stand around, feeling superior about our moral forthrightness, the Commies are destroying our Republic right in front of our eyes. It's time to fight, and quit worrying about whether our stuff stinks or not.
Sorry, Beck, but I don't buy into your nonviolence spiel. We have to save our Republic, by whatever means it takes. Hopefully bloodshed can be avoided, but we have to be ready to do whatever it takes to save our nation.
Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
We will and I may be posting some pictures if possible on Saturday night. I have everyone armed with cameras only.
The “civil rights leaders” can largely be ignored; they lost the moral high ground years ago.
Taking my 18 year old daughter, who chose the rally over a trip to Florida, next week. She took her own money to buy a video camera, just in case the media plans to make fake accusations. I believe it will be the youth of this Nation that will make us Right again. The number of young people at the Tea Party this past Spring was amazing and I am sure it will be the same at the Rally.
Nobody owns the National Mall.
It should have been required watching for all Black students.
