* I cannot believe that Speaker Nancy Pelosi is calling for an investigation in funding of the mosque opponents ("Pelosi's Poison," Editorial, Aug. 19).
If anyone started a political firestorm, it was President Obama -- who, when addressing a Muslim group, said that the mosque should be built as a matter of religious freedom. Then he backtracked the next day, when he realized the uproar that this caused.
Will Pelosi also investigate her Senate counterpart, Harry Reid, who said it should not be built?

I love how these idiots are going down over this issue. As I and others have said, you never know what kind of issue will come out of left field and be a major part of an election. I don’t think the dems expected gay marriage would be that a few years ago; no one expected THIS this time around. In both cases, these are emotional and basic issues, and when the dems’ attempts to placate one of the many “interest groups” they have to hold in order to maintain power slams into voters’ most elemental feelings aboutthis country, look out.
I cannot believe anyone thinks this woman wouldn’t say this. Pelosi’s about as bright as a wet match.
For me, the question is, How will the Stupid Party completely fumble this golden gift? Call me cynical, I am. I just can feel it in my bones.
another 500,000 just lost their jobs and Queen Nancy wants to investigate people for utilizing their free speech rights.
wow, are the Democrats in for it in November.
DING DING DING!! we have a winner
Well. There’s always that. Or Laura.
She’s not really crazy. It’s more that she needs to pass a bill, then find out what’s in it. After all, 500 million people are losing their jobs every month. The good news is, their unemployment will create lots of jobs. Still, she wants to investigate the people who are funding these job losses. Then she will drain that swamp.
Confusion runs dep in the democrat party.
Call for an investigation for easily half the people in this country is truly laughable. I sincerely hope I get to see her ugly ass tarred, feathered and paraded in DC at some point.
The GOP, taking the high-road, will allow the controversy to drop. Those running for office will not press their challengers to put their opinion on record or use it against them if they are for the mosque. Those in office will stop forcing their “dear friends” to go on record and won’t use it against them.
That’s if we allow the story to go away.
Check out this open letter to Conservatives from the boys at HillBuzz. It’s a lesson on why we lose to the Left although the majority of America agree with us on most issues. They’re begging us to go after the Left, on this very issue and show us what we must do to win.

By referring to her call for an investigation into the opponents of the mosque as nutty or silly the idea is minimized.
It’s not silly or nutty, it’s damned dangerous and she ought to be excoriated by all sides for her demands.
The chance of that is equal to a snowball’s chance in hell but we on the right side of this issue ought not be too dismissive of her call for investigation.
Had an obama loving “relative” on facebook say “Obama is wrong about this”. Now he’s changed his tune and posted a link to Olberman saying this is a non issue. I don’t post to this idiot but if I did I’d say “Maybe you should have waited until msnbc told you what your oppinion is.”
The point is these people really don’t think for themselves at all. And when they do and happen to get it right they back track as soon as the media tells them what they should think. We’re in trouble, folks. These people actually vote.
Wait a minute, this isn’t as bad as you may think.
Ever heard of Peter Wehner? I haven’t and I doubt most people have. They had to scrape an unknown member of the former administration to find someone willing to go on the record with any criticism.
Bush, Cheney, Rice (there are more) have already said, No Comment about the mosque.
Of course the Compost is going to grasp onto anyone they can find and run with it, only to trip and fall. If Karl Rove comes out in favor or Cheney or Bush himself, then worry.
So far Bush and Co. have kept their mouths shut and honestly, what is the incentive for them to save Obama or Pelosi, no matter how much Maureen Dowd begs?
I’m sure they”ll find a way, “reach across the aisle”, my esteemed collegue,” etc...most pubbies with balls are in the minority. Too bad for the Republic.
