I hope this movie fails BADLY.
Rooster Cogburn was John Wayne’s role and will be for the ages.
Some movies should never be remade. “True Grit” is in the top tier.

Boy - glad I read through the posts before posting - you got my thought word-for-word....
Wouldn’t it be neat if TCM and AMC and every channel that plays movies could saturate the airwaves with “True Grit” and “Rooster Cogburn” the week before this travesty is released to theaters??
“Some movies should never be remade.”
Very few can be remade successfully. Ocean’s 11 was a monumental flop. In fact, most (all) of the recent remakes with the current movie players (They are in no way actors) have been flops.
So is Psycho, but they remade that. I suspect, they will remake this one, too. And, it won’t be as good as the original.
I hope the Cohn’s don't screw it up again.
No question about it.
And while we’re on the subject, I happened on this the other day: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0EUP9rOLf30
Good point! Was there a clamoring for this film to be remade? Not that I know of. Why? The film IS John Wayne and that cannot be replicated!
I’m inclined to think that this will go over like the remake of ‘Miracle on 34th Street’. or the remake of ‘The Parent Trap’ that they constantly show instead of the truly good classics. Mostly the same shows, but devoid of any human spirit....soulless even.
I disagree. I loved John Wayne, but Jeff Bridges was awsome in the roll that won him his best actor nod last year and I can picture him in this roll just fine.
They’ll have a transgendered Rooster that’s uncertain whether he wants fish or fowl. What kind of hens to have sex with tonight? Yup, the quirky ol’ Marshall will probably be all-in for sex with the livestock, Sonny Boy!
