"Will Republicans save us?"

This is entirely the wrong question to ask, and illustrates why there are so many FReepers who do stupid things like vote third party, and who are all the time whining about the Republicans.

Face it folks, NO POLITICIAN is going to "save" us. This idea that we just have to find the "right" magical special person who will then ride in on their white steed and set all our wrongs aright is simply ludicrous.

You want to know why we get sold down the river? Because WE don't do enough for ourselves. WE don't hold politicians' feet to the fire. WE don't exercise the oversight that we ought to be as citizens of an ostensibly representative republic. WE abrogate our own responsibilities, and then expect some white knight to come in and rescue us.

So, are the Republicans going to save us? No. But is whining about the Republicans going to save us, either? No. Is electing Republicans over Democrats going, in the aggregate, have a more positive effect on this country than continuing to run third party candidates to split the vote and put Dims into office? Yes. People, have some perspective.

???? First you talk about holding Republicans feet to the fire. Then you tell us to stop complaining about Republicans. Then it appears you tell us elected Republicans will give us better 'results' than Democrats. Well, if your point is that Republicans must always be elected and we must support them blindly, whoever they are, so we must close our eyes and ears, then there is no holding their feet to the fire.

I saw some conservatives 'holding Bush's feet to the fire' in 2007 and 2008, it didnt work out too well. It was a complete party meltdown.

Correct, and they really do seem to like it that way.

Have some perspective?

Good Lord man, have you not noticed how far to the left our nation has drifted under Republican as well as Democrat leadership?

You sit there and type that no Republican is going to save us, and then add in that voting in Republicans is the only sane thing to do.

You see no conflict there at all do you.

Then you polish this road apple off with, “...have some perspective.” Seriously?

You gave this a lot of thought didn’t you. /s

We already KNOW where the democrat socialists want and are trying to take us.

Remove their ability. Stop the bleed. Slam the brakes on and the door in their faces, and then HOLD the Republicans responsible for starting the long road back.

If not, there is only one last option, and it is not pretty. That is the reality of where this political class of people have put us.

Personally, I’m sick of the Hobson’s Choice that we have with these two parties. But it is, for now, the reality that we have to deal with. So we need a RINO purge and replacement with people who will drive the party back towards conservative principles and discipline - and HOLD it there.

Sounds simple, I know...
