RE :”If they don't win a veto-proof Senate, they can't undo Obamacare but the House alone can refuse to fund any part of it. There are numerous blocking tactics that a Republican-controlled House can take against those hell-bent on trampling on our Constitution. The question is whether they will have guts and principle to do it. After all, many Americans, including those who are Republicans, have a stake in big government control, special privileges and handouts.

Dream on! It all depends on the political winds. Right now democrats cant escape blame and try as they might, are not getting points for running up debts without real job creation. Next year, who knows ? What we do know is Republicans are not telling us much about themselves(for obvious reasons). And Democrats don't want to talk about themselves either.

The answer will not be found in a political party, but in national repentance and return to the Creator God Who favored this country and its founding.

Heck yes, we can rely on the GOP to bring conservatism back to America. Remember the last time the Republicans managed to wrest power from the Democrats? Murder of unborn children was banned, steps were taken to stop Islam encroaching on American culture, and the border with Mexico got reinforced against foreign invasion. Even now in opposition, the GOP is vigorously putting pressure on Obama to actually follow the Constitution and release his long form birth certificate.

“Islam is peace” - George W Bush

Do I sound bitter?

Ultimately, we Americans must act to ensure that our liberty does not depend on personalities in Washington. Our founders tried to do that with our Constitution. Thomas Jefferson offered us a solution when he said, "The spirit of resistance to government is so valuable on certain occasions, that I wish it to be always kept alive. It will often be exercised when wrong, but better so than not to be exercised at all. I like a little rebellion now and then."

Dr. Williams, like me, believes that the 'Pubbies aren't going to ride up in shining armor on white chargers to save us. The Republican's history of controlling the Congress isn't what you would want to see on anyone's resume, ESPECIALLY that of the people we hope will save us from the communists.

But, Dr. Williams essentially lays the case in his last paragraph when he quotes Thomas Jefferson. If we want our cherished nation, Constitution and way of life restored, we're going to have to do our own heavy lifting. The "saviors" from the GOP ain't coming!

Republicans save us? Not likely, with Boehner and McConnell running the show.

I remember what happened in 1994, just weeks after the November election. Newtie got a $4million book advance, and Rush carried his water. From what I read of the situation, it was legal, but IMO it stunk to high heaven. Newt's moral authority was diminished before he was ever handed the gavel.

Will Republicans save us? A loaded question and one no one can answer for sure; but, the one truth is obama is surely going to "doom" us.

I'm in my car, the accelerator is stuck and I'm headed for a cliff...I'll probably try to jump out of the car, no matter how fast I'm going, before I reach the edge of the cliff. I'll probably suffer some injuries, but if I go over the cliff, I'll be killed for sure.

That being said, here's my take on it. Neither the democrats, nor the Republicans can save us...WE have to save ourselves. The difference is, obama and the dems are BLOCKING us from saving outselve, putting every obstacle at their disposal to do it.

All the Republicans have to do is just get the f*** out of the way, and let us go...Americans MADE America, and Americans will SAVE America. Move those punative taxes and regulations, and watch us SOAR.

Americans who sit around waiting on a political party to SAVE US are using "entitlement" thinking...it's not up to the politicians...it's WE THE PEOPLE.

"Will Republicans Save Us?"

Perhaps republicans will save us. Republicans are only interested in maintaining the political status quo and keeping themselves in power. The GOP is as culpable as the democrats.

“Will Republicans Save Us?”

No.

The American people growing some huevos will save us, but not politicians—not a chance.

I got my “I told ya so!” ready for post November.

If Americans don’t light a fire under their arses, then all we’ll have is some shiny new politicians to show for our efforts at the ballot box.

"Will Republicans save us?"

This is entirely the wrong question to ask, and illustrates why there are so many FReepers who do stupid things like vote third party, and who are all the time whining about the Republicans.

Face it folks, NO POLITICIAN is going to "save" us. This idea that we just have to find the "right" magical special person who will then ride in on their white steed and set all our wrongs aright is simply ludicrous.

You want to know why we get sold down the river? Because WE don't do enough for ourselves. WE don't hold politicians' feet to the fire. WE don't exercise the oversight that we ought to be as citizens of an ostensibly representative republic. WE abrogate our own responsibilities, and then expect some white knight to come in and rescue us.

So, are the Republicans going to save us? No. But is whining about the Republicans going to save us, either? No. Is electing Republicans over Democrats going, in the aggregate, have a more positive effect on this country than continuing to run third party candidates to split the vote and put Dims into office? Yes. People, have some perspective.

contempt for the limitations placed on the federal government by the U.S. Constitution.

I have contempt for the notion that the US Constitution places limitations on federal power. The results are in. The Constitution creates virtually unlimited power.

If we admit this Consolidated Government it will be because we like a great splendid one. Some way or other we must be a great and mighty empire; we must have an army, and a navy, and a number of things: When the American spirit was in its youth, the language of America was different: Liberty, Sir, was then the primary object. We are descended from a people whose Government was founded on liberty: Our glorious forefathers of Great-Britain, made liberty the foundation of every thing. That country is become a great, mighty, and splendid nation; not because their Government is strong and energetic; but, Sir, because liberty is its direct end and foundation: We drew the spirit of liberty from our British ancestors; by that spirit we have triumphed over every difficulty:

But now, Sir, the American spirit, assisted by the ropes and chains of consolidation, is about to convert this country to a powerful and mighty empire: If you make the citizens of this country agree to become the subjects of one great consolidated empire of America, your Government will not have sufficient energy to keep them together: Such a Government is incompatible with the genius of republicanism:

There will be no checks, no real balances, in this Government: What can avail your specious imaginary balances, your rope-dancing, chain-rattling, ridiculous ideal checks and contrivances?

Patrick Henry, June 5th, 1788

No - republicans, as a brand, will not save us. They will only walk more slowly towards the same goals as the democrats. We need candidates interested in upholding the Constitution and representing the people who voted them into office. And we need a population constantly engaged in all the political processes, with a sharp eye for corruption. Then we need a true media - one not paid for by either party. Finally, and most importantly, what will save us is a true revival and for God to withhold His judgment upon this nation for a while longer.

I have no confidence that republicans will use their new found power in congress to turn back the liberal hands of time.

Republicans have proven time and again that party, privilege and power are more important than the good of the nation.

We need to break this stranglehold that the two party system has on our land.

Our representative republic has morphed into an oligarchy.

A few wealthy government, corporate, globalist elites working day and night to circumvent our freedoms.
