SEATTLE -- F-15 fighter jets scrambled from Portland to deal with an unknown aircraft that had entered restricted air space over Western Washington caused two sonic booms that were heard across a wide swath of the region, the FAA reported Tuesday.
Several calls from worried residents from Olympia to Seattle flooded emergency dispatchers and the KOMO Newsroom reporting two distinct explosions that rattled windows and shook homes.
The FAA had restricted a large area to aircraft over Seattle due to President Obama's visit.
A spokesman with the Oregon Air National Guard said two F-15s from their 142nd Fighter Wing were scrambled on a "real world mission" from their base at Portland International Airport but could not elaborate on what the mission entailed.
>>How small are you?
:) Small enough to get into Zero’s head and rattle the mush around. And long enough to reach the ground.
It is Rome again, and we have an emperor. I was hoping the first emperor at least wouldn’t look like a dork. I was thinking Russell Crowe. If he’s gotta be an idiot, at least he could look good.
Scrambled from Portland.
Think about that delay time to scramble a fighter ...... Seattle is a soft target.
What ? a threat to Muslim One(formally Air Force One).
They shook the parking garage I was in, which is just two blocks from an airport. I was looking for a smoke plume in the direction of the airport.
had to pick up Reggie Love, Obama’s body man—
Muslim One ridden by the 12th Imam aka Imam Obama!
We heard it south of Olympia, in Rochester.
Sounded like thunder but not a cloud in the sky.... I looked first for plumes from our volcanoes;~)
None of the emperors of Rome weren’t ever Muslims of any kind AFAIK.
Given what I observed in L.A. the past two days and now this story, I’m convinced security details on BO’s many travels has been increased at least five-fold. No way we can afford this.
So have we heard yet what they were intercepting?
Seattle (the city of my birth BTW) is not only a soft target... it is an acceptable loss! ;)
Used to scramble fighters and lead them to intercept for a living... in the USAF!
I am more focused on his limp-wristed shake...
did the FAA issue you an airworthiness certificate for that thing?
SFVAMC? The San Francisco VA Medical Center?
Yes

F-15s scrambled for breach of Presidential Airspace
SEATTLE — Two F-15s were scrambled from Portland International Airport Tuesday afternoon after an aircraft entered restricted airspace around Puget Sound during President Obama’s visit to Seattle.
Two sonic booms were heard all across Puget Sound as the fighters flew north to Seattle.
According to KOMO News in Seattle the Oregon Air National Guard confirmed that two F-15 Eagles with the 142nd Fighter Wing had been scrambled on a “real world mission” but would not elaborate.
The FAA has restricted a large area over Seattle for President Obama’s visit to the area. NORAD reports that they responded to an aircraft violating a “VIP Temporary Flight Restricted Area” at approximately 1:35 p.m. Two F-15s were scrambled from Portland to intercept the aircraft, which left the restricted area prior to the F-15s intercepting it.
While flying to intercept the aircraft the F-15s went supersonic, resulting in the sonic booms heard all across the region, NORAD confirmed.
Air Force One landed at Boeing Field Tuesday morning for a visit with Sen. Patty Murray on primary election day. Among his stops was a visit to a business round-table at a Pioneer Square bakery to talk about jobs, and two fundraisers for Murray including a luncheon at the downtown Westin hotel and a private event at the home of RealNetworks founder Rob Glaser.
Reports are a seaplane that must of got too close to the restricted airspace around Boeing field today. Dozens of them take off from Lake Union and Lake Washington daily near downtown Seattle.
