JACKSON, Miss. – Another teenage lesbian is suing a rural Mississippi school district, this time over a policy banning young women from wearing tuxedos in senior yearbook portraits.
Ceara Sturgis' dispute with the central Mississippi Copiah County School District started in 2009, well before a student in another Mississippi school district, Constance McMillen, found national attention in her fight to wear a tuxedo and take a same-sex date to prom.
On Tuesday, the American Civil Liberties Union filed a federal lawsuit for Sturgis, claiming the Copiah County district discriminated against her on the basis of sex and gender stereotypes. Her photo and name were kept out of her senior yearbook.
The ACLU first contacted the district in October 2009 about the issue, but officials said they would adhere to a school policy. By the time Wesson Attendance Center yearbooks were released this spring, school officials had made clear Sturgis' photo in a tuxedo wouldn't be included. But Sturgis was surprised to see even her name was left out of the senior section.
"I guess in the back of my mind I knew that was going to happen, but I did have a little hope. I cried. I put my head down and put my hand over my face," Sturgis said Tuesday.
The suit challenges the district's policy allowing male students, but not female students, to wear a tux for senior portraits. The suit alleges a violation of Title IX, the federal law prohibiting discrimination based on gender.
Sturgis, who has worn masculine clothing since ninth grade and begins classes at Mississippi State University on Wednesday, said she felt as if she was being punished "just for being who I am."
District Superintendent Rickey Clopton didn't immediately return a call seeking comment.

Pretty confusing stuff. I find my wife pretty confusing at times, I can not and do not want to imagine all the drama of the gay/lesbian relationships!

Creating and enabling these disfunctional yutes, unfortunately. Children should be counseled by parents, family and their church at the first indications of "sexual confusion", or whatever it is called this week. IMHO, it is not behavior that should be accepted, coddled and encouraged.
I have no problem with girls or women dressing in the clothing that they find comfortable. I also have no problem with a school district setting rules for the yearbook. If everything goes, boys will be having their senior photos taken in sequined gowns, just because they can and they might find it amusing.

Let's a closer look at how our magnificent modern police handled the Dahmer case, in this modern age of "love one another" and tolerance and celebration of the "gay" lifestyle:
In the early morning hours of May 27, 1991, a 14-year-old boy wandered naked, under the influence of drugs forced upon and bleeding from his rectum. Two young neighborhood women saw him and offered aid. They immediately called 911.This poor young girl, I say that because like the two idiots (morally speaking) of policemen left the 14 year old to die by the hands of a homosexual predator out of a idiotic regard for tolerating and celebrating a claim of homosexuality -- even when drugged, young and anally wounded -- against the hateful rebukes of two homophobes, so too was this girl when younger not provided a firm hand of moral guidance for fear of offending the modern secular spirit of tolerance and celebration!Jeffrey Dahmer chased his victim down and tried to take him away, but the women stopped him.
The police arrived. Dahmer told the police that boy was his 19-year-old boyfriend, and that they had an argument while drinking.
Our modern police decided to return him to Dahmer. The two young women had protested strongly! The very modern police ignored the complaints of the two hateful homophobes. These are times of peace, love and human equality!
The two modern police officers later reported smelling a strange scent while inside Dahmer's apartment. But at the time they did not investigate it.
Two months later, when Dahmer's heinous string of torture, murders and cannibalism was discovered it was found that bad smell was the body of Dahmer's previous victim from some days earlier which was decomposing in the bedroom.
The two oh-so-modern policemen did not make any attempt to verify the 14 year old boy's age. Why should they have in this modern era?
A background check would have revealed that Dahmer was a convicted child molester still under probation.
Later that night, Dahmer killed and dismembered the boy and kept his skull as a souvenir.
At the time Dahmer was killing about one victim a week. In June he experimented with making zombies of his victims while they lived -- drilling holes into their skulls and injecting muriatic acid or boiling water into their frontal lobes.
He was captured on July 22, 1991, and was killed by an fellow inmate during a work detail on November 28, 1994.

(Come to think of it, a deceased U.S. Senator (D-W.Va) probably wore his!

It’s hard to believe that when I went to school, there were dress codes. And girls wore dresses to school, and boys wore nicer pants and shirts. Blue jeans weren’t allowed. Shirts had to be tucked in. Dresses and skirts couldn’t be too revealing. This was in a public school, not a private or parochial school.
There are still dress codes, but they are so lenient nowadays. And now we’re going to have to allow “lesbian” girls to dress like guys? It’s a violation of constitutional rights if we don’t allow this?
So much of what happens today would have been inconceivable in 1960.
Back in the 60’s there were a lot of unwritten social rules of decency. Society just sort of understood that there is a certain way you should dress in certain situations. And we would raise our kids with that kind of thinking.
Today, no one cares about those rules. Parents let their kids dress however they want. Generation X, Y, and now Z just dont have a respect for those social norms or traditions. Its all about what’s in style now.
Keep in mind these kids are also being FLOODED with GLBT propaganda in the liberal school system. They are being hit with that stuff every single day. And part of the GLBT’s goal is to destroy gender standards. A girl can dress as a boy and a boy can dress as a girl now.
I think you are right. And I think we’ve lost something valuable in that we don’t have these unwritten rules of decency anymore.
Of course you have to make value judgements to talk about any of this. A major tenet of liberalism is that we’re supposed to be non-judgemental about people and situations.
In reality, in seems like the liberal view is that you should be very judgemental and condemn racism, sexism, “homophobia”, “Islamophobia”, etc. You just are supposed to be non-judgemental about matters which are not liberal sacred cows.
A lot of gnashing of teeth over nothing. It's not necessarily such a bad look.
