Social activists and civil rights leaders, among them the Rev. Al Sharpton, are planning marches and demonstrations -- including the unveiling of a nearly four-story-tall original sculpture on the Mall -- on Aug. 28 to coincide with a rally organized by Fox News personality Glenn Beck.
Beck's "Restoring Honor" rally, with former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin among the scheduled speakers, will take place on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, 47 years to the day after Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his famous "I Have a Dream" speech there.
"There will be absolutely no politics involved," he said. "This rally will honor the troops, unite the American people under the principles of integrity and truth, and make a pledge to restore honor within ourselves and our country."
Civil rights leaders have denounced Beck's plans, questioning his motives for choosing the date and place, which they said are historically symbolic of the country's civil rights movement.

How can this NOT turn political. It may be a great gesture, I just don’t think you can keep politics out of it.
F.D. Washington, Pentecostal minister of the Washington Temple Church of God in Christ in Brooklyn personally ordained Sharpton a minister at age 9.
One idiot making another idiot.
Sharpton is about as legitamite a reverand as obooba is an American.
For those that go: Vet everyone in your party; bring camera's, Video recorders, sound recorders, use them; Loudly point out disruptors/trolls;
The Libs will DEFINATELY be agitating for a violent/hostile confrontation. Their friends in the MSM have an empty picture frame with a caption that reads "Tea Parties/Glenn Beck groups get violent". They are drooling over the prospect of filling the frame with pictures and video.
As Triv says,
“I’m living in a world I don’t understand!”
LOL. With that type of opposition the photos will do more to support the Honor Rally than any of Beck’s words ever could.
“Civil rights leaders have denounced Beck’s plans, questioning his motives for choosing the date and place, which they said are historically symbolic of the country’s civil rights movement.”
Did these liberals copyright the date?
Your thinking is exactly what liberals want. You’re not going because there may be trouble? Do you always allow liberals to dictate whether or not you’ll display public support for our cause?
Side Bar: Palin will be staying and speaking here in Hershey on the 27th at the Lodge.
Or, you know, he might’ve just picked the 28th of August because it’s a Saturday before school starts (in many parts of the country), and more people could come then?
There is no freedom without courage. We have been the home of the free BECAUSE of the brave.
Beck has been planning this thing even before the 9/12 event. It was his brain child. If anything the left is walking into his event. My point is the left is getting relied up as the date gets closer. Not Beck’s fault. Nobody expected the left would be up in arms, but they should have. Glenn should not back down. Plus at this point it is too late. It is the right thing to do.
Ah misread the post. So then I agree. The left is walking into his trap.
Lucky you!
Beck was comparing numbers to the Bambi inauguration. That event had 3000 buses registered, and about 1 million attendance. 8/28 so far has about 1000 buses registered, so if the numbers match up, that would be about 333,000 attendance. The MSM will report no more than 10,500.
Maybe Beck should hold the rally on April 4th in Memphis, instead.
Mark my words—there will be violence. People will be hurt—the DC police will do nothing but watch. I just feel it in my bones that something bad will happen. I hope I am wrong and I wish that Beck would cancel the event. Lets hope my prediction is all wet and all goes well.
