Luckily, this story has a happy ending. But how many ordinary Americans have a microphone or a TV show with which to make bureaucratic enormities like this public?

Lest we forget, the Kennedy Center’s forerunner as Washington’s premiere concert hall, Constitution Hall, run by the Daughters of the American Revolution, once tried to ban contralto Marian Anderson for the simple crime of being black. Here she is in action, singing the “Ave Maria” just to make the atheists and Schubert-haters crazy:

About 80% of Jews are liberals, I imagine that some have a lot of odd ideas about Christians.
No priest and no baptist preacher would agree to this.
There is much more, particularly in giving— to support the promulgators of the faith.

After hearing him speak of his faith many times, I believe you are right.
I think he’s confused about his religious affiliation but, that’s okay...as long as he’s in the right place.
Beck made a deliberate choice when he left Christianity a few years ago and adopted Mormonism, he didn't just stumble into it, he got his big radio break at that time and is now trying to become America's national preacher.
ansell2 is right...Mormons don’t believe that Jesus is the only son of God, who was sent to die on the cross to save us from our sins. They don’t believe He’s our savior.
However, Beck seems to believe that, which is why I question why he practices Mormonism.

I think that’s why he’s loyal to them. He sure speaks as a Christian would, though.
BTW, I was in Salt Lake City visiting my sister-in-law during the SBC when it was held there. The Mormons did their dead level best to convince me they were Christian. I can understand why someone in Beck’s position would be sucked in. However, his beliefs as he’s spoken them point to Christianity.

As for any religious debate ending, I don't see that any ever started. To do that, people would have to be willing to discuss their definitions of things, rather than second pronouncements.
On the other hand, fairly clear personal pronouncements (seconded or otherwise) are helpful for understanding, so thanks for that.

First the Mormons strove to convert Christians by convincing them that they too were Christian.
Mormons are taught about how to keep the facts from potentials, they call it feeding them milk before meat.

Do you have an other Savior ?
How can a Savior be other than sent from God?
Are you asking me if my understanding of Savior differs from yours?
Why? Do you think either of our opinions changes what a Savior sent by God really IS?
Don't Bible thump at me without being willing to define your terms, and respect other opinions than yours if you come across them.
Otherwise why even ask any questions? Just examine everyone for agreement with your personal opinions, and damn everyone that doesn't smile and nod when you demand them to.

Glenn Beck Told He Can’t Lead Audience In Prayer At Kennedy Center
Conservative talk radio host Glenn Beck was told by officials at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts that he can’t lead his audience in prayer at his August 27 Divine Destiny event.
Beck has rented out the facility the night before his “Restoring Honor” celebration at the Lincoln Memorial for “an eye-opening evening...that will help heal your soul.”
As Beck relayed to his radio audience Monday, his religious plans during the festivities were a serious point of contention before the powers that be came to their senses (video follows with transcript and commentary):
GLENN BECK: They have told people on the steps of the Supreme Court that they cannot pray there. They have told students on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial they can’t sing the National Anthem there. And last week I was told by the Kennedy Center that we could not pray there. We were told by the Kennedy Center in no uncertain terms that we could hold our event there, sure we had a contract. But they weren’t told that we were going to have an opening prayer. The program is has the word divine in it, our divine destiny. We couldn’t pray at the Kennedy Center. So my attorneys came to me and said, Glenn, are you willing to compromise on it? And I said, I sure am. You tell them that not only will I do an opening prayer, I’ll do a closing prayer, and the entire program may be a prayer. In fact, take this down. It is a night of prayer. You’ll see if you are lucky enough to get a ticket to the Kennedy Center, and they are not for sale. You will see in the program how I described it. I described it that way. So they could print that in their program at the Kennedy Center which they insisted on having after they told us we couldn’t pray. I said, let me dictate this one. Friday night I was supposed to have a meeting today at 1:00 with their attorneys and I had already talked to my attorneys. Zero compromise. We asked them, where is that in your I didn’t see that in your rules and regulations. “It’s not written down.” No prayer at a federally funded building.
Friday night I think they got a hold of Common Sense. They alerted me Friday night that they will allow prayer to happen on the stage of the Kennedy Center. I told them, thank you so much for your graciousness. I appreciate the scrap from the table. America, our religion and our faith is under attack and whether people care to realize it or not, it is.
Ironically as our friends at The Right Scoop noted, prayer isn’t allowed in government buildings, but the current President “can still have a Ramadan dinner at the White House.”
That said, Beck informed his readers of this event Wednesday:

Updated: Beck Told No Prayer Allowed at Kennedy Center

I’ve been sitting on this story for a few hours, waiting for the Kennedy Center to get back to me with a comment. No comment yet, but if they ever chime in with something, I’ll update.
Update: Finally heard back from the Kennedy Center folks. Here is the official statement from their press office regarding Beck’s appearance and comments from this morning:
The Kennedy Center was informed that as part of its event on August 27, Mercury Radio Arts desired to lead the audience in prayer. After checking with our legal counsel, we found that this did not contradict the rental agreement for the event.
Wrong again. The liberals don't care enough to consider Christians in the first place. It's the Orthodox who hold the Trinity as polytheism.
I think he he is using subterfuge t try to convince others to become Mormons. They are nice people supposedly, but are not honest about their beliefs.
Yes, but it certainly is the wrong thing to do, considering that people of their faith, and in the name of that faith, murdered people (our fellow citizens) not a block and a half away...The sensitivity of these people is beyond pale...
And at the end of the day they don’t give a rats about our sensibilities...
