AP-GfK polls show Obama losing independents (along with just about everybody else)
Associated Press ^ | August 15, 2010 | Alan Fram and Trevor Tompson

Independents who embraced President Barack Obama's call for change in 2008 are ready for a shift again, and that's worrisome news for Democrats.

Only 32 percent of those citing no allegiance to either major party say they want Democrats to keep control of Congress in this November's elections, according to combined results of recent Associated Press-GfK polls. That's way down from the 52 percent of independents who backed Obama over Republican Sen. John McCain two years ago, and the 49 percent to 41 percent edge by which they preferred Democratic candidates for the House in that election, according to exit polls of voters.

Independents voice especially strong concerns about the economy, with 9 in 10 calling it a top problem and no other issue coming close, the analysis of the AP-GfK polls shows. While Democrats and Republicans rank the economy the No. 1 problem in similar numbers, they are nearly as worried about their No. 2 issues, health care for Democrats and terrorism for Republicans.

But less than three months from Election Day, independents aren't the only part of Obama's 2008 coalition that shows waning enthusiasm for a Democratic-controlled Congress.

Other groups that supported Obama but show less fervor include young whites, unmarried women, people who live in the West, people earning under $50,000 a year, college graduates and urban whites. The falloff shows that Democrats have work to do with blocs the party hoped an Obama presidency would cement into dependable supporters.

There's even erosion among minorities. While 8 in 10 voted for Obama, fewer than two-thirds want a Democratic Congress, and 1 in 9 don't care which party controls.

Year in year out, about 25%, the idiot vote, always stick with the dems. Just like the similar percentage that stuck with King George.

Obama at 42% job approval today per Gallup.

He’ll be in the 30’s come November.

He hasn’t a clue how to govern.

This is all well and good but we’re already hearing about The One’s administration seeking to suppress the overseas military vote. What else are they doing to ensure the tyranny of the minority continues? What of ACORN? What of the dead voting? What of corrupt precincts in Chicago, Fort Wayne, Milwaukee, Seattle, SF, etc? How do we nullify that criminal activity?

I think the outrage from 2000 over suppressing the military vote will reemerge even more strongly and that issue will take care of itself. The rest is more murky. How many times will dead uncle Fred vote? How many times will Mickey Mouse vote?

I was thinking a consortium of concerned lawyers working pro bono across the country with an 800 number would be ideal in preventing and fighting voter fraud. Of course time is not on our side.

That is a very clever video! I was waiting for the Agony of Defeat guy. ;o)

Us Country Class people are going to give the Ruling Class folks a big ole butt kicking in November, and I can’t wait!

What do you want to bet that there are many fewer idiots now than there were in November, ‘08?

BTW, I think the “let’s elect a black guy to prove we’re not racist” thang has worn off.

Voter fraud will be very interesting to watch this time, simply because more of the public knows about it, and I don’t think they will stand for another Franken/Gregoire fraudulent election again.

ACORN, in the last court go around, lost, so they won’t receive federal funding unless there is another court decision that says otherwise before the election. Frankly, government funding accounted for only about 10%...however, they’ve lost many of their big foundations’ funding.

I just don’t know how effective they will be until all is said and done.

It will be interesting to see how many of the dead votes are allowed to stand. ;o)

.....I don’t think they will stand for another Franken/Gregoire fraudulent election again.

Lets not forget to add Mary Landrieu and Loretta Sanchez to that little group of cheats.

You have an excellent memory. ;o)

Since Katrina, Landrieu has been especially challenged.

I like it.

Woody Jenkins defeated Landrieu in that election, but they found enough "Votes" in "Nawlins" to push her over the top. The Republican establishment let Woody twist in the wind and we have been infested with Landrieu ever since.
The same thing (Probably worse) happened to B-1 Bob Dornan (A great patriot) in California giving Rat Sanchez the win.
California is a lost cause, but I really think Little Mary is not going to make it next time around.

He hasn’t a clue how to govern.

That's because he and his administration were "ready to rule on Day One."............

Hard to say. Maybe they’ll be too busy playing around on Youtube and Yahoo and will forget to vote. One can only hope.

You’re very welcome!

You’re right that he’s not through showing his true colors. I think there is more to come. Just look at what he did this past weekend!

Pat Cadell is livid at what Obama is doing, not just to his party, but to our country.

I think us Country Class people have already figured it out.

Welp...the yoots turned out in droves in ‘08...for Obama.

He’s not on the ticket this time.

Frankly, if I were in college, I wouldn’t want to get up early to vote. Oh...wait! That’s been the pattern for many years!

Gore and Kerry promised a huge turnout of young people. Neither one of them delivered squat.
