After President Obama finished a speech in Panama City, Florida, he was called aside by reporters just off stage and asked what he thought of reaction to his comments yesterday about the plans to build a Muslim center -- including a prayer room -- near the site of the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center.
“My intention was simply to let people know what I thought, which was that in this country we treat everybody equally and in accordance with the law, regardless of race, regardless of religion,” Obama told the reporters, referring to his comments at the annual Iftar dinner at the White House last night.
“I was not commenting and I will not comment on the wisdom of making the decision to put a mosque there. I was commenting very specifically on the right people have that dates back to our founding. That's what our country is about. And I think it's very important, as difficult as some of these issues are, that we stay focused on who we are as a people and what our values are all about,” he said.
Obama’s comments today have been seen by some as backing off his comments last night. Press coverage of the Iftar comments suggested Obama was advocating for the building of the project. White House Deputy Press Secy Bill Burton denies there’s any change in the president’s message.
“Just to be clear, the President is not backing off in any way from the comments he made last night."

Most people do not recognize that what happens in a mosque is sedition. Pure and simple. Islam is not just a “religion”, it is a cult, it is it’s own government, its judicial...is in its sharia, and its military (jihadis) all rolled into one with one intent ...and that is to rule wherever they take root. It is a invasive, systemic infection looking to take over the host once it has quantum.
This is not just a “religion”, but something that cloaks itself in those terms so it should not be given the same treatment contemplated under the first amendment. It’s rules are to consume whatever government is wherever it goes. To supplant and replace.

I wonder what the “pro-mosque first amendment” types (including our dear leader) would say if Mel Gibson wanted to build his brand of catholic church anywhere in NYC...or if the Phelps Baptist crazies opened a pubicity office near ground zero, or if any evangelical Christian mega chuch wanted access to the same property or something nearby. I suspect there would be outrage at the loss of tax revenue associated with the tax exmpt status of such enterprises. I just don’t get liberals.

A small Greek Church apparently survived 911 at ground zero and I hear is trying to get NY City approval to rebuild but is being denied. A John Demos is trying to be elected and has brought this out.
Does anyone know if this is true or not? This would be a Christian church being denied.
David Axelrod puts forth enormous effort to control Barry’s tightly scripted teleprompter presentations only to have his work undermined when Barry decides to go off script and improvise. There’s really no reason why Barry needed to get involved in the issue, but he can’t contain himself. Between this and the monthly vacations it seems like Barry would rather not be President and would prefer to just retire to permanent vacations at 5 star hotels and blogging about Muslim issues.
