Democratic candidate John Hickenlooper now holds a double-digit lead in the three-way race for governor of Colorado.
The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Colorado Voters finds Hickenlooper, the mayor of Denver, with 43% support. Businessman Dan Maes, the winner of Tuesdays Republican Primary, captures 31% of the vote, while American Constitution Party candidate Tom Tancredo trails with 18%. Three percent (3%) prefer some other candidate in the race, and five percent (5%) are undecided.
This is the first poll conducted since Maes won the Republican primary.
It shows Maes with a bit more support than he had before the primary and Tancredo with a bit less support.
Hickenloopers level of support has been fairly steady for months, but he has clearly benefitted from Tancredos entry in the race which splits the Republican vote. The Democrat had run roughly even with Maes in two earlier surveys.
Thanks, Tom, for being there for us. /s
Tom. Drop out, you dupe.
I believe he is running because he does not trust the Dems or Republicans to do the right thing especially on Immigration. He mentioned they had eight years to do the right thing but they failed. He says that when he wins he will deal with Immigration within the first month. 31 percent is pretty good and it is still early.
There’s nothing worse than an attention whore. Yeah, I’m lookin’ at you Tancredo.
nice theory except he aint gonna win, he is going to get the dem elected. so whats the point? ego?
He does have an ego that is for sure. He was always full of himself.
Tancredo is at 18%.
Once again, it appears CO conservatives and Republicans have formed a circular firing squad to settle disputes.
Colorado has never had a Denver mayor elected as governor. This may be a first.
the Charlie Crist of Colorado eh?
But then,18% of "voters" can be expected to "side with" the whore standing on the street corner.
Tancredo wants to be the Ross Perot of this election. We had the Little Man with the Big Ears to thank for having Bill Clinton as President.
Which is why he won't win.
The Tancredo-ite immigration position has yet to demonstrate that it can win an election - any election, anywhere.
Obeying the law is one thing, in the public mind.
Cleaning your own pool and changing your own diapers - that's another thing altogether.
No conservative government is going to come to power with the Tancredo line. If it can't win in the West (and it can't), it can't win anywhere.
And before you call me names - prove me wrong and win an election.
Maes is a conservative. Running a splitter campaign against a conservative is NEVER a good thing, regardless of how much “trust he doesn’t have” for the Dems and GOP. Personally, this is a good reason never to trust Tancredo again, AFAIAC.
Nevertheless, I’m sure there are a goodly number of FReepers who have convinced themselves that voting for a self-promoting scumbag like Tancredo is the “principled” thing to do. Amazing what turns out to be “principled” when you get to define the term for yourself....
Sad to think there are still those willing to bore holes in their own ship while in deep water.
in as much as he is a spoiler he is like crist....
better a moderate republican than a leftist Dhimmicrat....
or would you prefer Obama over the Maverick McCain.
I would take that stupid POS Mcain every time over zer0 if that was my only choice
Any chance Tancredo will drop out?(How RU doing buddy)
Except Tancreado is not gay...
As many pimples at the Republican Party has this is also another reason to try and save it.
