Colorado Governor: Hickenlooper (D) 43%, Maes (R) 31%, Tancredo (ACP) 18%
Rasmussen Reports ^ | August 13, 2010 | Scott Rasmussen

Posted on 08/15/2010 5:25:08 AM PDT by Titus Quinctius Cincinnatus

Democratic candidate John Hickenlooper now holds a double-digit lead in the three-way race for governor of Colorado.

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Colorado Voters finds Hickenlooper, the mayor of Denver, with 43% support. Businessman Dan Maes, the winner of Tuesday’s Republican Primary, captures 31% of the vote, while American Constitution Party candidate Tom Tancredo trails with 18%. Three percent (3%) prefer some other candidate in the race, and five percent (5%) are undecided.

This is the first poll conducted since Maes won the Republican primary.

It shows Maes with a bit more support than he had before the primary and Tancredo with a bit less support.

Hickenlooper’s level of support has been fairly steady for months, but he has clearly benefitted from Tancredo’s entry in the race which splits the Republican vote. The Democrat had run roughly even with Maes in two earlier surveys.

Unfortunately this is what we have come to. No need to make a reasoned argument, just trow out some childish insult.

The reasoned arguments have already been made. The Tanc supporters have repeatedly chosen to ignore them. So what else is left, but to simply give my honest opinion of the man, and be done with it?

"Maes wouldn’t win the head to head match anyway."

Yes he would. Hickenlooper is polling at his limit, there's no more ground for him to make up, his Denver base is maxed and locked in -- no love left for him in the exburbs re: the royal screwing they've taken on RTD.

Well handing the election to the most liberal mayor of Denver is not going to bode well for Colorado when it comes to illegal immigration, Tancredo and his ego are single-handedly going to contribute to the ruin of Colorado is this hick is elected Governor.

Now look here, you're using entirely too much logic and reason. It's going over their heads.

It was helped in NC and Indiana by Bob Barr, that much I know and Ohio was likely stolen by the democratic SoS and Acorn.

"I believe he is running because he does not trust the Dems or Republicans to do the right thing....."

So do I. I also think he'll do the right thing if it gets down to the wire and he's third in the polls. He knows he couldn't get a phone call returned if he doesn't.

the Charlie Crist of Colorado eh?

Well except that Tancredo really is a conservative, although a misguided one. Crist reminds me of Mitt Romney and I despise him.

If Tancredo was a principled man, he would have run in the GOP primary.

He is running to set up his Sunday talk show career.

We, conservatives, have always known that we will have to overcome election fraud by the opposition. They don't play fair, this is nothing new. What is somewhat new is that party line voters are electing rino's. That only helps the opposition in the end.

The only reason conservatives will make a comeback in this election cycle is that the libs have shown themselves for who they really are, rino's don't!

"I believe he is running because he does not trust the Dems or Republicans to do the right thing especially on Immigration. He mentioned they had eight years to do the right thing but they failed. He says that when he wins he will deal with Immigration within the first month."

Someone needs to ask him what he's going to do in the first month after Hickenlooper is elected.
Will Hickenlooper appoint him to some high post in Colo. government?

Voting for Maes does not compromise on principles. He is a true conservative and actually better than McInnis was.

I agree with this much of your statement, although I think Tom is the best candidate. But for this to be effective, Tom would have to drop out before his name was printed on the ballot.

Actually, The Partytm is evidently bent on achieving that result all by itself:

BREAKING: Republicans Meeting with Maes Today on Pulling Out

by: Colorado Pols

Fri Aug 13, 2010 at 13:08:52 PM MDT

"To be clear, the story is about high-level Republicans wanting Maes to get out of the race, or failing that to select a running mate from their approved roster. The only part of the "rumor" he has control over is his response--and for the time being anyway, there you have it. "

“Now look here, you’re using entirely too much logic and reason”

Isn’t that the truth! But at least in a few years, they can scream from the rooftops, see it is the progressive open borders democrat that was elected to the governorship. It’s not us, we are purists and conservative. And when the dems in the state sentate and congress pass through a bill which eliminates the need for id to vote in CO elections, I doubt chickenlooper will veto the bill.

Problem is that the ballots are finalized the first week of September. If he remains on the ballot and his name is on the ballot, even if he drops out late in the race, he will draw votes away from the Republican and Hickenlooper will win. Tancredo has created a mess.

Vote for evil, you get evil.

And you’re deceiving yourself if you think evil is going to give you anything.

Bears repeating for those who don't get it.
