Democratic candidate John Hickenlooper now holds a double-digit lead in the three-way race for governor of Colorado.
The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Colorado Voters finds Hickenlooper, the mayor of Denver, with 43% support. Businessman Dan Maes, the winner of Tuesday’s Republican Primary, captures 31% of the vote, while American Constitution Party candidate Tom Tancredo trails with 18%. Three percent (3%) prefer some other candidate in the race, and five percent (5%) are undecided.
This is the first poll conducted since Maes won the Republican primary.
It shows Maes with a bit more support than he had before the primary and Tancredo with a bit less support.
Hickenlooper’s level of support has been fairly steady for months, but he has clearly benefitted from Tancredo’s entry in the race which splits the Republican vote. The Democrat had run roughly even with Maes in two earlier surveys.
I take the side that I would rather have a known idiot we need to watch in office than someone we give a pass to anything he does simply because he is a Republican.
I watched as we pounded Clinton but gave Bush a pass on the very same things.

In my opinion, prolonging the country’s collapse for a few days/weeks/years, by choosing another fake R, seems like a moot point now.
Frankly, if I could name one pernicious lie that has delivered our free republic into the hands of the Left, it is the “lesser of two evils” fallacy.
Until and unless conservatives stop compromising core principles on the altar of perceived political expediency, this country cannot be saved.

I still say that by allowing the Dem to win because of a split in the R ticket is not moving in the right direction. Even a RINO is better than a Democrat and pressure can be applied to the RINO. Sure it would be better to have the more conservative win but splitting the R ticket will never get us moving toward the right.
To further answer your question, notice the better candidates we are getting since third party candidates have been splitting the Rpublican vote. We cannot continue to vote for RINOS just to say our side won. We just keep getting more and more liberal RINOs. Since the party votes started getting split there have been better Republican candidates. Stupid should hurt, and we are getting hurt by RINO candidates, so we split the ticket, lose, and that hurts even more. Until it started hurting we did not see better candidates. We still vote for RINOs on whole, but I won’t.
Either give me a good candidate or the difference between what is left is of no significance to me. They both suck, just in different ways.
Maes versus Hickenlooper? There is a big difference in what they say, but there will be little difference in the results as Maes get his ass handed to him by the Democrat legislature and he caves on one issue after another all the while telling people he is a conservative.
Maes says he is for addressing the illegal alien issues. Great, sounds good, huh? Except he is for the liberal approach to just making them legal citizens and not addressing the actual enforcement of the law. Think Maes will address Denver being a sanctuary city? Nope. Think he will enforce the law? Nope. He’ll give lip service to it and go along with the Democrat legislature and claim he is working the problem. Republicans all over the State will support him because he is their party’s guy. I’d rather have Hickenlooper in there where those very same Republicans will fight him tooth and nail to stop the legislature.

What pressure? History has shown us that Republicans will go along with him. They won’t fight him. They already caved to vote for him in the first place. That is not pressure. Pressure is the candidate had best do what the voters want or else the candidate is not elected into office. What are you going to do once he is in office for pressure? Vote for him again because he is a Republican but tell him you are upset? Basically, run to the end of your chain and bark?
If you voted for him once you will do it again. There is no pressure to bear once he is in office. You have no leverage.
I think what these people are primarily is massive egoists. It’s all about them and their pride, particularly when their pride is hurt by realizing that they wouldn’t have won in the primary. Clearly, the only response is to go off on your own and make sure that your primary opponent won’t win in the general election.
And here I thought Republicans believed in a free market and competition. Silly me...
It's okay. Tancredo isn't running as a Republican. He's running as a Conservative. Folks that want to vote for a conservative can vote for Tom. Folks that don't have a choice.
He won’t win. He will give the election to Gov Chickenlooper and we all know what he will do with immigration. I used to be a Tancredo fan, but he has jumped the shark. He had his chance to run for the R nomination, and chose not to. Now he wants to muccy the waters and give the governorship to the dems in an election year that should be a slam dunk for us.
Maes is not a moderate. He is a true conservative and was my choice over McInnis anyway. Tancredo is causing immense harm here.
I find it stunning how many of you will sale your principals just to win an election. We all know Tom is the best suited candidate in the race.

McCain was the Manchurian candidate. Had he been elected, only the window dressing would be different.
McCain’s for amnesty, open borders, bailouts, cap and trade, McCain-Feingold intrusions on free speech, and hasn’t met an increase in ‘guest workers’ or off-shoring that was not to his liking. He sabotaged / shut down investigations into POW and MIA, suported al-Qaeda terrorists in Albania and Kosova in 1990’s, supported Obama and ObamaCare, and McCain’s Reform Institute is supported by Soros. Based on past behavior, McCain would have twisted himself into a pretzel to reach across the aisle to Pelosi and Reid.
We have gotten to the sad state we are in by voting for the lesser of two evils as the RNC kept marching leftward. Like McCain the RNC speaks for freedom, small government, and lower taxes only while campaigning.
