U.S. Senator Richard Lugar (R-Indiana) wants Governor Mitch Daniels to run for president in 2012 and he's not shy about saying so.
Lugar said he doesn't believe President Barack Obama will be re-elected and he will support Governor Daniels. The governor said he is not actively seeking the nomination but has agreed to keep an open mind about a possible run.
Friday, Fox News Channel filmed Governor Daniels at the state fair, reportedly for a documentary about possible 2012 presidential contenders.

Can we file this under “Damning with Faint Praise”??? I don’t see Lugar’s endorsement bringing either money or significant support to Daniels. Certainly doesn’t make me sit up and take notice anyway...
I doubt Mitch Daniels will get the nod. What is the quality of rope that Lugar is smoking these days?
Daniel is not the most charismatic politician around, but his record in Indiana is pretty darned impressive. He is running one of the few states in the U.S. that has its’ fiscal house in order.
If U.S. Senator Richard Lugar (R-Indiana) is for it, then I’m against it. Daniels seem like good business man until he talked about abortion. Neither of these clowns will ever get might vote! Just the facts Ma’am.
The only person I want to see run in 2012, this is all depending on his performance for the next year and a half, is Gov. Christie. If he continues to maintain and succeeds, then I want him to run with NJ voters consent. Because it can be tough to lose a good Gov.
Well, that ended Daniels. Actually, Daniels ended himself with his truce on social issues.
That’s right we need top elect the joke that thought it would be a good ideal to charge little kids to ride the school bus. Daniels is a joke of a person, toll road king.
Daniels has made squishy comments “He does not believe that immigration laws should be broken or that immigration/law enforcement officials look the other way. However, he does believe there are many citizens who consider illegal immigrants vital to their business operation.”
Daniels is a good man......Lugar once was a good man.
Mitch Daniels is the next generation of “compassionate conservative”, the label of George W. Bush in 2000.
Daniels worked for President Bush and it all makes sense that Lugar would support him for president.
If anybody needed any more proof that Daniels is a RINO, this is it. I expect the Maine sisters will express their support next. Finally followed up by Sens. Pansy Graham with Arlen Spector saying Daniels is the only republican that he could ever support.
I also expect Govs. Rick Perry, Charlie Crist, and Ahnold to be fully behind him.
Living here in Indiana for the past 19 years, I am not impressed with Daniels, rather depressed with him. Don’t get me started on what time it is!!!!!!!!!
