Friday August 13, 2010First Rush, then Coulter, and Now Glenn Beck ... Whats Happening?
Commentary by John-Henry Westen OReilly asked Beck, Do you believe that gay marriage is a threat to the country in any way? Beck replied, No, I don't, adding sarcastically, Will the gays come and get us? The Glenn Beck revelation comes on the heels of two other startling announcements by conservative celebrity pundits in the last couple of weeks. Earlier this week it was announced that conservative pundit Ann Coulter would headline a fundraiser for the homosexual activist group within the Republican Party, GOProud. And on July 29, although his position had been revealed before, talk radio host Rush Limbaugh again came out in favor of homosexual civil unions, while being opposed to same-sex marriage. To be fair, it must be pointed out that Beck said he was looking at the big picture and promoting faith, the answer to all such things. Moreover, he added that he was okay with gay marriage with a caveat. As long as we are not going down the road of Canada, where it now is a problem for churches to have free speech. If they can still say, hey, we oppose it, he said. But even to have suggested, as strongly as he did, that he was not opposed to gay marriage is detrimental and demonstrates a small picture approach. Beck seems like a good guy. Hes thoughtful. Hes right on many matters in the culture war. For instance, when OReilly followed up and asked if Beck thought abortion threatened the United States, Beck replied dramatically in the affirmative. Abortion is killing, its killing, youre killing someone, he said. So I thought itd be worth it to calmly and persuasively share concerns with Beck on his approach. He may not read my email, but Im sure if enough pro-family folks were to get the message to him, hed reconsider his outlook.

As someone here in S. Utah (and a Catholic),btw, I can tell you the possibility of polygamy being “normalized” is the very reason the mainstream LDS church was so involved in Prop 8.
They knew (and know) that if the legal definition of marriage were officially changed, that polygamy would soon follow, bringing back all the old prejudices. From the Mormons I talk to, and I know plenty, they’ve spent decades trying to “mainstream” their religion and distance itself from it’s historic embrace of polygamy. Ditto for its historic embrace of racism and anti-Semitism.
The Mormon people are frugal with a buck (and that is intended as a compliment). They POURED money in to Prop 8. People in CA wanted to paint them as anti-gay haters; but that was beside the point.
They didn’t want their own future reputations tied up in this.
The Gay Marriage issue is the wrong fight at the wrong time...
The first battle of the conservative agenda must be securing economic liberty; meaning serious tax reform, probable term limits and a much smaller government like our forefathers visioned.
NOTHING will change until DC and the bureaucrats have been effectively neutered.
Only when government has been eliminated from being able to fund through grants, every left wing group, can a real honest debate begin on moral issues.
Do not get sidetracked by one lost battle when their is a much larger war taking place.
False dichotomy, in *TWO* respects.
1) Stable home life is a lie for most homosexuals -- cheating is rampant.
2) Promote promiscuity and disease? Happens anyway. Think of analogies to the herd effect with vaccines, this time on the other end of the percentage meter.<> The only answer for homosexuals is abstinence.
I am thankful God convicted my heart on this matter. Jesus may not have condoned gay marriage, but he was against oppression.
"Go and sin some more" ...NOT!
"For the sin we are about to commit, we thank thee." ...NOT.
His harsh criticisms were against the OVERLY religious....NOT the sinners.
His harsh criticisms were against those who did NOT REPENT.
Go Google the Folsom Street Fair and tell me how repentant the participants look.
The key is this: God's righteousness is above any and all human good works. He doesn't grade on the curve. Or as President Bush said, when libs in the press tried to get him to act self-righteous about homosexuality, intending to nail him on his past drinking, "We are all sinners."
Cheers!
It is owned by God. He designed it. You cannot change His meaning.
You just seem arrogant to think that none of your own sins are bad enough to be denied taxpayer benefits as a result....but theirs are.
This isn't about man's taxes. This is about their agenda to force people to accept their perverse sin as normal. It is not. And God is NOT "ok" with it.
Remove big government. Get government out of the education of our children. Get government out of our finances, out of our medical care, health insurance.
What would be left for the gay community to use to push their agenda? Once it doesn’t matter if a church has tax exempt status or not, they cannot punish a church. Once we have a government small enough to not be able to push any agenda, Christian, gay, Muslim, Environmentalism any religion at all, we are free to associate with whom we please.
That changes the government back to it’s primary role of preventing individuals from harming one another and providing justice when harm is proved in a court of law.
Government is force and provides the tools to impose specific beliefs on unwilling citizens. Lets cut it down to size.
Let god be the judge. Imposing what people believe god would do through Statism isn’t right no matter what religion we are talking about.
Allowing government to define discrimination and enforcing it with law is wrong also. Where are the protections from discrimination for the fat, the ugly, bald men, hairy women, families with kids? Once you allow government to enforce discrimination laws, don’t we violate equal protection under the law?
“Once it doesnt matter if a church has tax exempt status or not, they cannot punish a church.”
Exactly. The Churches should have never sold themselves to the state through tax law.
They need to shed the State immediately and simply be supported by believers.
You rot in your own sin and then condemn and punish using God? You are a pharisee. You want less government but then you want government to punish a particular sin and not your own?
Wow....you will be judged as you have judged
Yep...you nailed it!
“Go and sin some more” ...NOT!
Oh....I guess you have managed to handle this one? Please tell us how you stopped sinning
1) Stable home life is a lie for most homosexuals — cheating is rampant.
Sandy: Cheating is rampant in the hearts of all men. Including you...and the heterosexual community
Whoa...Head rush...
Where did I condemn them? I said that God said they are incapable of marrying. God condemns all sin, including theirs. He destroyed two cities because of homosexual sin.
You want less government but then you want government to punish a particular sin and not your own?
I never said government should punish anyone. I said government should not reward them for immoral behavior. Nor should government force Christians to condone their sin which is what gays want.
Wow....you will be judged as you have judged
I'm sorry that you don't know what that really means.
Yes, there were children present at the Folsom Street Fair.
Go ahead Sandy01, click the first lin, say "agree" and browse til your eyes light up.
” Will the gays come and get us?”
Yes, they will. They want your children. They already come after them. They teach 5 year olds about homosexual sex in the schoolls you pay for.
His harsh criticisms were against those who did NOT REPENT.
Did he love them to repentence or did he have governments oppress them? How do you know your own actions wont drive someone away from repentence and salvation? If you repented, why do you still sin? Why doesn’t he criticise you? Why didn’t he punish Peter. Did he deny rights to him? I think living as a homosexual is punishment enough without a mere mortal passing judgement by denying rights that are even available to murdereres and child molestors in prison!
FR is a conservative site. We do not appreciate our members fighting against us on our conservative values and issues. If you wish to support homosexual marriage or homosexuals in the military or hate crimes against us for speaking out against government promotion of homosexuality thats your business, but youd better do it somewhere else and not on FR. If you value your posting privileges, that is. FR is pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-marriage, pro-military, pro-traditional American conservatism and it is a privilege to post here. Those who support the godless liberal/Marxist destruction of our free society and our country are free to exercise their free speech rights elsewhere. I wont stand in your way.
Real conservatives need to get serious...and start questioning these talk-show hosts and “faux conservative” writers.
Note that, Coulter and Beck have been ridiculing Birthers...while Rush has been really weak on the issue.
Rush and Coulter made a living off of stains left on women’s clothing made by Bill Clinton.....yet continue to give Obama a pass on the Constitutionality of whether he can serve as President.
I am sure Rupert Murdoch, Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, Roger Ailes, and others running MS Fox News, have told the talkers and writers to not talk about certain issues, or they will not appear on MS Fox News
Real conservatives need to start questioning those in the media who claim to be “conservatives”
There is a gradual “throwing in the towel” effect in play here. Polls show public opinion shifting continually in favor of gay marriage, especially amongst younger voters. And it is clear that activist judges have absolutely no qualms about speeding things along. I think many on our side have concluded that this is ultimately a losing battle and not worth their time and efforts.
Personally I have no issue if gays want to have communal property or visitation rights, but the word “marriage” has specific value in our society, and changing it will have long-reaching negative effects, even upon gay people.
