But the bill languishes in committee. This is expected with the Democrat majority. But amazingly, this same legislation has been introduced into the House of Representatives in seven successive Congresses, beginning in 1995 (H.R.s 2270, 292, 1018, 175, 384, 2458, and now 450). Not one made it out of committee. Since a number of these Congresses comprised Republican majorities, this issue appears to be something other than party politics. This seems to be yet another example of the ruling class, or the Washington elites, maintaining an iron grip on their own power, even as they minimize and denigrate the U.S. Constitution.

Republicans and Democrat are the same in the only ways that matter -- power hungry, feeding on the productivity of the middle class, bought and paid for by corporate and union lobbyists and contributions, and voracious for more money and power to rule over We the People.

The iron grip of power is why it hasn't passed despite being brought up seven times.
Nice intent, but it'll never happen. Power mongers never give up their power and such an act tears the teeth right out of their mouth.

The truth is the Republicans need to have the Democrats be as scary as they can be. The Republicans WANT the Democrats to be able to hurt us in any way. If the Democrats CAN do this, that or any other thing, then the only way to stop them is to elect Republicans. Republicans are then free to be whatever they want, just as long as they aren’t as scary as the Democrats.
