A Florida pastor is speaking out in defense of his congregations controversial plan to burn copies of Koran on the ninth anniversary of the Sept. 11 terror attacks, MyFoxOrlando.com reported.
"Things like 9-11, Fort Hood, and the honor killings... these are possibly not isolated incidents," Dove World Outreach Center pastor Terry Jones said. "These are things that, if we don't stand up now, they can increase."
The Gainesville, Fla. church made headlines worldwide in July when it announced the plans on its Facebook page.
The event had received thousands of "Like" recommendations by users of the social networking site, but had also been attacked with a number of threatening messages posted on the page and received corresponding anti-Islam rants.
Jones who has written a book titled "Islam is of The Devil" and sells T-shirts bearing the same message says his life is being threatened after getting international attention for his plans.
"We have thought about it," the pastor said, "about the danger in holding the controversial event, and we realize that whenever we made this step, that this kind of thing could happen. But we feel it's that important, and the times call for some kind of radical measure in standing up.

I believe if not a majority at least a substanital number of Americans would agree with what the pastor has to say, plans on doing on 9/11 and I applaud, salute, support his efforts wholeheartedly. What is not at all grasped by the dementedly misguided liberal mindset is that it's one thing to compete along philosophical lines, freedom, democracy, capitalism versus every other lesser forms of economic, societal structure that have come and gone, the prospect of compromise, accomodation was always a possibility, nothing inherently in dogmatic violation. But with these people, there can never be compromise, acommodation, because there can never be a compromise when it involves their God, their destiny as they believe it to be, their eternal afterlife.
I’m in!
I will find a free copy somewhere and BURN IT as well.
Let’s all go visit our local terrorist training camps... what do they call those buildings? Masks? Something like that anyway...
But get a free copy and then BURN them.
Personally, i’d like to see the Qurans soaked in liquifed pig fat, then lit ablaze. Let’s give that pornography the respect it desrerves.
ZHell, I’ll even buy a copy so I can burn it!
if you can burn the flag or the bible, you can do the same with the koran
What a waste of perfectly good toilet paper.
Your logic is impeccable, irrefutable. I love it! :-)
Good to see people standing up and getting real about Islam.
Of course the church will be slammed by the Islamophilia crowd.....but this church is doing something a lot of others should be doing...getting real about Islam
It’s an evil book, full of evil and hatred.
WORKS FOR ME!
great. islam for stooges meets christianity for stooges.
Count me in!
What? Burn a book which demands “true believers” murder, steal, enslave, mutilate, practice pedophilia and engage in atrocities of every known flavor??? Gee...how insensitive!!
Lol, I read that as Korean first.
Can I use a Mexican flag for kindling?
As a matter of free speech, I say burn away.
But I don’t think a Christian Pastor should be leading his congregation in such an activity.
“great. islam for stooges meets christianity for stooges.”
Yea, something like that....hehe
Absolutely. Starting fires can be hazardous this time of year, but hanging them in national park outhouses would be a public service. Save the taxpayer a buck or two as well. Islam giving back to the community. Win-win, as they say.
