In the wake of the uproar over the mosque to be built near "ground zero" in New York, a prominent, controversial social conservative is calling for the prohibition of the construction of any mosques in the United States.
"Permits should not be granted to build even one more mosque in the United States of America, let alone the monstrosity planned for Ground Zero," Bryan Fischer of the American Family Association wrote this week on the AFA website. "This is for one simple reason: each Islamic mosque is dedicated to the overthrow of the American government."
Fischer is the AFA's director of Issue Analysis for Government and Public Policy. The AFA is a conservative Christian group that been in the news before for taking a number of extreme positions -- for instance, earlier this year Fischer called for Tilikum, the SeaWorld orca that thrashed its trainer to death, to be killed according to Biblical rules. In 2005, the AFA finally ended its boycott of Disney, which it kept of for nine years to protest the company's erosion of moral values.

I think they might be over the top on Tillikum the orca, but they’re certainly right about the mosques. No more mosques! I can get behind that.
No more Mosques. No more importation of Muslims.
If this mosque gets built the call for no more mosques will only grow.
I think we should go beyond that. Islam should be outlawed. Islam calls for the total overthrow of government and replaced by Sharia law. In fact, their paradise cannot happen untill that goal is reached.
First Ammendment will not permit this.
They live to offend us, even if their own actions eventually destroy their cherished way of life.
They are insane.
That’s just stupid. The purpose of domestic law isn’t to make some kind of statement to foreigners.
How do I donate?
No more mosques, no more muslims, no more people who support mosques or muslims.
Sure it is, if the ‘foreigners’ are persecuting American citizens in their countries for being Christians.
First amendment doesn’t permit tax dollars being used to fly terrorist imams around, nor does it permit the state department being involved in the building of mosques. So, as far as I can tell, the first amendment does not mean anything until we take it back and make it mean something.
Let’s roll.
Im with you!
This is true. Why should we allow them to build their places of worship; while they do not allow other denominations to do the same. They are not a peaceful ‘religion’.
They can’t allow it, because the vast majority would be converted away from their fairy tale ‘religion’.
Bullsh!t, they (extremist muslims) live to destroy our freedoms and force us to comply with Sharia as they have fought to do for centuries.
I’m not referring to muslims. I’m talking about their progressive enablers.
I think that’s a bit too far.
Home grown muslims like Calypso Louie et al do have some rights.
But what we certainly can and should do is to put real limits on the number of muslim immigrants and visitors, and to restrict their activities while they are here.
The strains of radical islam that are a security problem really originate from abroad, in Saudi Arabia and Iran and England, and aliens from those countries deserve the same scrutiny as Nazi aliens did during WWII.
Not allowing permits for house of worship.......if you take one groups right, rest assured in due time, no other group would be safe either.
First ammendment is clear about that.
Our Government doesn’t always live by Constitution, so all the problems you mentioned are genuine. Thus we fight to make our Government live by the Constitution.
However, I will not support getting rid of First Ammendment and Bill of Rights.
When viewed as retribution, the proposed whale of a remedy may appear excessive, but there is the whole aspect of incapacitating the recidivist to be considered as well.
