Funny thing...I was born and pretty much raised in SoCal. Sat waiting in the surf for waves days on end...looking at Catalina, and never visited there.
Had a buddy that was a pilot...used to take people there just to freak them out at the airstrip. Apparently it looks like you are gonna fall into the ocean.
Have relative that is the school principle on the island. Say's most of the students are hispanic...
Good story...thanks for sharing.

Prayers up, though every political stance he takes is antithetical to my views.
No matter how much we disagree, he's a human being and I wish him improved health.

Who should run against Sen. Durbin, in 2014? I hope that Rep. Roskam will run. If he doesn’t run, which Democrat will run? I thnk that Rep. Schakowsky would run.

Prayers for him and his family.

Doctors commented that the tumor bore a striking resemblance to a liberal supreme court justice

Having lost both parents to cancer, I can say it’s a horrible thing to go through. Don’t like the guy personally, but my prayers go up for him and his family.

I’ve only been over there four or five times myself. Perhaps a few more.
I’ve flown in by sea plane, but I never flew into the island airport. As I understand it there a cliff you fly in over on approach and it’s a short strip. I guess it does scare people from what I’ve heard.
Other than the main strip, there isn’t a whole lot to see. You can tour the island and look around, but that’s about it.
Take care...

Very true.
Did you know that there has been a big dust up in Europe concerning the soccer fans and Black players? I guess they’ve been openly calling them all sorts of names. They’ve been threatening them and I guess it’s gotten way out of hand.
You know, I doubt Black leaders in the U. S. will even mention it.
I don’t think things are perfect in the U. S. and in some areas I hope they get better. That being said, things could be a lot worse.

His QALY score must be pretty high for an old fart like this to rate such an operation. Oh wait, he’s not in Obamacare. Never mind.

I don’t know if it was a good idea to remove his stomach tumor. That was probably the only intelligent piece of tissue in his body.

According to a bio I read (John Wayne - American), after he had the lung removed (before he did the movie “Sons of Katie Elder”) he quit smoking and the lung cancer didn’t return. But his drinking caught up with him. He had to have his stomach removed in 1978 because of cancer and died in 1979.
