The 9-11 attacks were not religious events?

We all know there is media bias. We have also seen and heard examples of left wing propaganda. But now, I present to you the New York Times which has gone way past bias and propaganda to the point of just plain idiocy. In addressing the controversy regarding the construction of a mosque near the site of the September 11, 2001 attacks in New York City and the opposition to the site by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), the Times goes out of its way to ignore the facts to the point of claiming that the attacks were not a religious event. Uh... exactly what planet are these people living on?

In an editorial published by the NY Times, the editorial board states that the attacks were "mass murder" and "not a religious event." By making such an absurd comment, the board supposes that "mass murder" is some kind of action that has no motive.... that these attackers were just doing this for the fun of it. Do they forget that the attackers had their Korans with them... that they were praying to Allah for a successful mission? These attacks were a religious event in the eyes of the radical Islamist attackers. To forget or ignore this fact means that no serious debate or discussion can ever occur.

In it's opposition to the construction of a mosque near "ground zero," the ADL wrote in a statement:

The controversy which has emerged regarding the building of an Islamic Center at this location is counterproductive to the healing process. Therefore, under these unique circumstances, we believe the City of New York would be better served if an alternative location could be found.

In recommending that a different location be found for the Islamic Center, we are mindful that some legitimate questions have been raised about who is providing the funding to build it, and what connections, if any, its leaders might have with groups whose ideologies stand in contradiction to our shared values. These questions deserve a response, and we hope those backing the project will be transparent and forthcoming. But regardless of how they respond, the issue at stake is a broader one.

The Times claims the ADL "eagerly piled on with the opponents of the mosque" and wrote that it was "distressing to see the rationalization of bigotry used by an organization that has been fighting discrimination of all kinds." Bigotry? No one is saying to not build a mosque. People are simply saying don't build this mosque near "ground zero."

As Star Parker points out in her recent column, "Several million Muslim Americans live, prosper, and practice their religion freely and without interference in our country. According to a Google search, there are about 2000 Mosques in the United States." This is not about bigotry. Despite what left-wingers want to say about this country, America is one of the most tolerant countries in the entire world. The site of the worst terrorist attack on American soil should not be the location of some experiment in so-called "tolerance." Build a mosque... just build it somewhere else.

The events of 9-11 transformed this country and shocked those who witnessed it. I know... I was there. Are those on the left so intolerant as to not understand the views of those who have suffered through those attacks? Are they too stupid to see that, yes, this was a religious event, undertaken in the name of a religion, with the hope of bringing an opposing culture to its knees? This is not rocket science. It is yet another example of the left promoting their version of "tolerance" while being completely intolerant of those most directly involved.

But if a Christian and a muslim get into a fight over a parking space, the MSM will call that religious-motivated violence (if it was caused by the Christian, of course).

The MSM and other liberals have gone stark raving mad and I almost welcome Shariah law because they execute atheists, homosexuals, drug users, and adulterers! That should get rid of 90% of them.

I was looking at the NYTs logo yesterday. I know it's picky, but there in the midst of it's logo, is a crescent.

Wouldn't it seem that after 09/11, the Times would avoid that sort of thing.

Here it is. See if you don't think the Times could easily come up with a midification that didn't have a crescent in it.

“with the hope of bringing an opposing culture to its knees?”

I have to correct you. Muslims see America as a mostly Christian nation that is subservient to Israel. So, it's not the culture as much as it is the religions that dominate America.

America has not been Islamized yet and that is the goal. So the Muslims see it as a great opportunity; through freedom shall freedom be taken away. Through tolerance shall intolerance grow. Mark my words. Once critical mass is reached in America assimilation will go out the door. They will NEVER by into this system. NEVER.

You see, no other religion is equal to Islam. So, equality is impossible.

They also execute "infidels." And that should get rid of 90% of the rest of us :)

Radical Islam is not religious. It is political. It has been for hundreds of years, perhaps even thousands. If you call Satan worship religious, then I suppose you could call radical Islam religious.

Allahu Akbar translated means “Allah is Greater” and is the standard battle cry yelled by muslim suicide bombers and those engaged in war when attacking.

After 9/11, the FBI released a handwritten hijackers’ letter found in three separate copies—at Dulles, at the Pennsylvania crash site, and in Mohamed Atta’s suitcase. It included a checklist of final reminders for the 9/11 hijackers. An excerpt reads: “When the confrontation begins, strike like champions who do not want to go back to this world. Shout, ‘Allahu Akbar,’ because this strikes fear in the hearts of the non-believers.” Also, in the cockpit voice recorders found at the crash site of Flight 93, the hijackers are heard to be reciting the Takbir as the plane plummeted toward the ground.

When in March 2002 Maryam Mohammad Yousif Farhat of Hamas, popularized as “Umm Nidal” (and subsequently elected to the Palestinian Legislative Council), learned that her 17-year-old son had been killed on a suicide mission in which he killed five teenagers, she celebrated by proclaiming “Allahu Akbar!” and giving out boxes of halva and chocolates. In 2003, when Imam Samudra became the second Bali bomber from a violent Islamist group to be sentenced to death for his role in the 2002 Bali bombings that killed 202 people, Samudra greeted the sentence with chants of “Allahu Akbar”.

In 2004, in an execution video of Nick Berg being beheaded in Iraq, as one man sawed off Berg’s head the other captors shouted: “Allahu Akbar!”.And in the 2007 Fort Dix attack plot, a group of radical Islamists who were convicted of plotting an attack on the Fort Dix military base in New Jersey had videotaped themselves shooting weapons and shouting Allahu Akbar. During the 2009 Fort Hood shooting, witnesses reported that gunman Nidal Malik Hasan shouted “Allahu Akbar” before opening fire, killing 13 people and wounding 30 others.

No, because Islam is not a religion, but a system of hate and subjection.

They don’t execute the infidels right away. We can pay the dhimmi tax until all the liberals are gone. Then they start killing us.

BTW, my earlier post (and this one too) was mostly sarcasm but it is interesting that the liberals that seem to invite islam to take over will be the first killed by them.

This is fascinating to watch.

They have painted themselves into a philosophical and logical corner.

Either the motivation for the act was religious, or it was not.

The perps universally stated unequivocally that their motivation was Islam.

So, either their motivation was religious, or Islam isn't a religion.

Excellent.

The 9-11 attacks were not religious events?

Maybe that's why pictures aren't allowed to be released.
