Jack Kingston: Sarah Palin should ‘butt out’ of state races
AJC ^ | 8/11/10 | Jim Galloway

Posted on 08/11/2010 11:59:32 AM PDT by pissant

On “America’s Morning News” – a web-based talk show sponsored by Human Events – U.S. Rep. Jack Kingston was drawn into a discussion of Georgia’s Republican runoff for governor.

Would you have preferred that Sarah Palin butt out of it, Kingston was asked? “I wish she will,” Kingston said. But never mind the grammar – it was live radio. He continued:

“Because what’s she’s doing is dividing the Republican party at a time when we don’t need to be divided.

“Because in a case like this, really what people were saying – ‘Well, she’s endorsing Karen Handel because she’s a woman.’ [Palin] got up on stage on Monday and said, ‘I’m not doing it because she’s a woman – although she is a sister.’ You know — wink, wink.

“And I understand that. But what it does is, it makes Republicans say, well, maybe we do need to rethink Karen Han – I mean, Sarah Palin, as somebody who does shoot from the hip a little bit too much. Because I think Karen Handel is a very decent candidate, but she’s clearly the more moderate person in the race….”

I voted for Nathan Deal yesterday. It had nothing to do with Palin's endorsement of Handel (or Newt's or Huckabee's endorsements of Deal).

I just want to defeat the smarmy, Teachers' Union-owned jackass Roy Barnes in the general, and Deal's numbers against him are better.

It's politics. It's always about the lesser of two evils.

Politics, like human beings, are always suffused with varying degrees of evil. No candidate will ever be perfect. Learn it.

Handel moved up significantly due in large part to Palin’s support and won the plurality on primary day. I fail to see why Palin or any other figure in politics is suddenly not supposed to get involved in primaries. This is the time where we sort through our candidates and select the best ones. Elected officials past and present have been engaged in the primary contests for as long as I remember.

Im getting a little pissed off with people labeling 95% conservative candidates as RINO’s. This is getting stupid now. we need to defeat and the Dems and Obama in 2010 and 2012 first and foremost. We can deal with the rest later.

Saying "we can deal with it later" is exactly how we got Obama & Demonrat supermajorities.

It seems there certain small (but still significant)percentage of people on FR who insist that anyone who disagrees with any aspect of their political beliefs is a RINO. To quote that famed Republican Forrest Gump, “Stupid is as stupid does.”

I agree with your point ...

I will tell you that I voted for Handel because I wanted to help send an anti-washington insider message. I never thought Handel would actually win, and the election was far closer than I thought it would be. Surprisingly Fulton (Atlanta and $$ sections of ATL-metro north) county went VERY heavily for Handel.

Either candidate will defeat ‘good ol boy’ Rody Barnes (D-Ga) so either one was a ‘win.’

I am happy with the outcome, BUT Kingston should Shut His Trap.

Sometimes you can think something, but a person needs to stop and think about saying it out loud.

This is one of those times.

Someone who has a 95% rating is not a RINO.

This is not the USSR for God’s sake.

And as bad as RINO as McCain was - think - Kagan and Sotomayor v. Alito & Roberts.

John McCain sure "appreciates her activity".

"The Republican party is very divided" because morons keep repeating the lie that Tea Party members and "Country Clubbers" (whatever that is) can't be part of the same force to defeat Barack Obama. Like there aren't rich, country club Republicans in the Tea Party.

Get a clue.

She’s the tops. She has my vote just for pissing off the RINO elite.

I think you've got it backward regarding the Georgia race, alarm rider. Sarah Palin backed the choice of Georgia's RINO elite, Karen Handel. Here's a little background on Handel:
- Karen Handel is NOT endorsed by the National Rifle Association.
- Karen Handel is NOT endorsed by Georgia Right to Life.
- Karen Handel voted as a Fulton County Commissioner to give $1.2 Million to Planned Parenthood.
- Karen Handel long denied contributing to Log Cabin Republicans -- until a copy of her handwritten dues check surfaced.

Handel's opponent, Nathan Deal, earned a 100% American Conservative Union rating (97% ACU Lifetime) while representing the most conservative district in Georgia since 1993. Deal is supported by my Congressman, Lynn Westmoreland (100% ACU; 98% ACU Lifetime) and Jack Kingston (96% ACU; 96% Lifetime ACU). If Sarah ticked off anyone in Georgia, it was NOT the "RINO elite."

I actually told Sarah, to her face, that I think she could make a bigger difference on the sidelines than holding public office.

Of course, that is just my opinion.

Nathan Deal is goona do us right.

Roy is going to try to smear Deal with ethics issues. Even in losing, Roy will do his part to poison another Republican’s future and reputation. It’s the Alinksy way, and Roy is a useful idiot.

I got two words for Roy Barnes — Tom Murphy.

That’s odd. He didn’t mention Huckleberry’s or Newt’s butting into this race. So Bubba and Obambi shouldn’t have butted in Colorado. So no politician should campaign for another?

I like sarah a ton, but she is simply too polarizing to run for POTUS.

we need to use our heads’, not our emotions in this. If she runs and gets the nod i will support her 10000%, its just that I think we need someone like a Jindal, thune, Christie, etc to be at the helm.

This inner fighting is unproductive. Reasonable people can agree to disagree.

We are dividing ourselves to be conquered. Not smart.

It happens every primary season round here. FR is a brutal place if you get too attached to one candidate or another.
