Just in from Karen Handel:
I want to thank all of my friends, supporters, volunteers and my campaign team for a tremendous effort over the last 16 months. We ran a terrific campaign, beat the odds to come in first place in the Primary, and came so very close in the runoff election.
As of this morning, we are four tenths of a percentage point behind Nathan Deal with absentee ballots and overseas military votes yet to be counted.
We certainly have the option of requesting the automatic statewide recount. But we are not going to do that.
The best thing for our party is to rally around Congressman Deal as our nominee in the fight against Roy Barnes. Barnes would return Georgia to a past that is best kept in our rearview mirror. We must marshal all of our resources to defeat him.
I spoke with Nathan this morning and let him know that I endorse his candidacy and look forward to the fight against Barnes. I have also called on all who were supporting me to give their same
That shows class.Unite the party and defeat the rat bastard king roy in november.Handel will have a future in Georgia politics.
That showed he listens to his constituents as a congressman. How refreshing.I think he will make a fine governor here in Georgia.
I hope that is the case. I just want the military votes to be counted.
If you check - most of these people DO NOT live in Ga. They have absolutely NO IDEA what Deal or Handel stand for, have said, have done, etc. etc......Most of them know only ONE THING.... Handel was endorsed by Sarah Palin. I *love* Sarah but disagree with her on this and I live in Ga. and she does not!!
They were posting on all the Ga. threads last night, too... accusing Deal of being part of the Democrat Caucus!!! for goodness sake..... Glad Handel had the class to concede without costing us $$ for a fruitless re-count.
This is NOT true. I know.... I work in an elections office in Georgia. The only votes that have not been counted are the few military ballots that have until Friday (by law) to arrive. Today my very large county received ONE BALLOT! So there is no way 2500 military ballots for Handel are going to show up in 2 days - in fact - whatever small percentage of military ballots are still coming in are probably 50/50 or in Deal's favor.
ALL the absentee ballots have been counted in every county! This is some myth that absentee ballots are not counted. They are counted on election night along with the votes of all those who voted in person during early voting and on election day.
So....... is thia a good thing?
As I posted .... the military ballots have been (and will be ) counted. They are treated exactly like an absentee ballot. They are ALL COUNTED on election night. The only military ballots that have not yet been counted are those that are still in the mail (They have extra time to get to the elections office) They have until this Friday. Very, very few have not yet arrived. I work in the elections office of a very large county. Today we received ONE military ballot. I will be surprised if we receive more than 2 or 3 a day tomorrow and Friday. I don’t know how this myth got started that miltary and absentee ballots are not counted.
sorry typo thia=this
You Betcha!
Because the Dems are fascists.

On to the general and we can’t allow liberal Barnes to be gov again.
It’s the best move for the party and the best move for her political career.
Maybe they made a deal.
Wow, muawiyah. I’ve never read such an over-analysis of the term RINO. You’re going to have to take that act on the road. Maybe after a couple of decades of speeches around the country you’ll convince one or two other people of your definition of RINO.
In the meantime, “Republican In Name Only” signifies exactly what the rest of us THINK it signifies:
Someone in the Republican Party who is way too liberal to BE in the Republican Party.
Your analysis might be historically correct, but give it a break, man. When people think RINO they think “liberal Republican” and all your analysis isn’t going to change that.
Well, then, congratulations for Deal. I’m glad the more conservative candidate won.
The term never meant someone who was or was not Liberal. We had these people in the days of the Southern Democrats ~ and I assure you they weren't Liberal at all.
Those who forget the past are doomed to misunderstand the language
Accusing Deal of what? My Goodness, what do you imagine he was doing when he was an elected Democrat? He certainly wasn’t in the Republican caucus!
You are a purist who will spend hours delineating a finepoint that no one will remember 5 minutes after you stop talking.
You are an energizer bunny.
More power to you.
With such a wealth of linguistic art why would we want to "waste" the word "Republican" in yet another name for "Liberal".
I say we just call these pukes "Leftwingtards" if that's what we mean.
I am very frustrated as I try to communicate with you. You were arguing that Deal was a RINO (Republican IN NAME ONLY) because he was member of the Democrat caucus!... IF you were referring to the 2+ years when he WAS a Democrat - how does that make him a RINO???? You cannot be a Republican in Name ONLY if you are an elected Democrat!!!
He was the most conservative Democrat from Ga. and therefore switched parties... since switching parties he has been given a 90% rating from American Conservative Union since 1996!
He has been elected *overwhelmingly* from a VERY Conservative district (Cook Partisan Voting Record of R+28.... the THIRD most Republican District in the ENTIRE NATION!!!
Last time he ran in this CONSERVATIVE District he won with 77% of the vote.
If you insist on calling him a RINO then you go right ahead.... you don't live in Georgia anyway - why are you spending all this time disagreeing with people who actually live here and know his record. I will not respond to you again as I think it is fruitless. I am only posting this in case someone else reads your posts and is misinformed by them.
I’m not arguing with your logic, all I’m saying is the term RINO is here to stay and for you to campaign against that is really swimming against the stream.
This is a case where you could be absolutely right on the technical facts of the matter but completely lost with regard to your goal.
Which is what? I’m not sure.
You want people to stop calling McCain a RINO? You want people to stop using the term RINO to refer to other Republicans who are back-stabbing liberals?
Forget the perfections of your definitions for a moment and just consider this:
It ain’t gonna happen!!!!!!!!
