Murray, Cantwell tout $30 billion small business-lending bill
The Seattle Times ^ | August 10, 2010 | Jim Brunner

Washington's U.S. Senators Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell held a news conference this morning at Wallingford's Tutta Bella pizzeria to talk up the small-business lending bill Democrats are trying to push through the Senate.

The Small Business Jobs Act would create a $30 billion fund for community banks to lend to small businesses. It would also increase limits on existing Small Business Administration (SBA) loans and give small businesses additional federal tax breaks.

Supporters say the proposal, which passed the House in June, would free up credit frozen for many worthy small businesses.

But it has been blocked by a Senate Republican filibuster. Republicans have called the measure "TARP light" -- tapping public anger over earlier Wall Street bailouts.

Any small business owner who would borrow money in such a massively uncertain environment is just CRAZY!

Breaking the bank, one bill at a time and buying votes in the process. 28 billion here, 30 billion there, and with a Federal budget of well over 3 Trillion, (2.6 trillion more than Bush.) it really must have been Bush that caused this mess. And, they will destroy the economy and this country to prove it.

What do you mean "Damn Republicans?"
This is all about making small businesses jump through hoops and paperwork to get crumbs. Most of the billions will go to bureaucracy anyway.

If you want to help small businesses, cut their taxes.

For all the billions the government is spending on our behalf, shouldn't we have FULL employment with rebate bonuses for everybody instead of 18% unemployment (or underemployment) and teetering on the edge of a depression? Just asking.

Damn Republicans!

Don't blame Republicans, Republicans are liberals second best friends.

Blame conservatives that vote Republican just because the letter (R) is appealing.

Republican never has, doesn't, and never will equal conservative exclusively.

Place your vote wisely.

Obama is always ready to lend small business money.

We don’t need to borrow money we need to keep more of what we earn to reinvest or shore up our financial position to survive this tough period.

I had an Sba loan 13 years ago. The SBA just did a credit check on me even though I paid it off in one year 12 years ago.

A business takes government money and they will be forced to comply to their pending Socialist policies.
The left invented the word retroactive.

I’d guess that only black businesses qualify.

BTW, is the black farmer scam still taking applications? I have a black cat that farms mice.

Vote 2nd party and ensure a Republican win, what's your point?

Vote for those who look left in the chambers of Congress or vote for those who look right in the chambers of Congress.

The outcome is always the same....

It's a freeway to destruction, the fast lane to the left and the slow lane to the right.

Same direction regardless.
