I'm Swedish.
I recall being about 5-6 years old and visiting a family my parents knew who had been to America for holiday. I and my brother repeatedly demanded of them to show their super-8 films feauturing places they'd visited over there like Disney World ín Fla.
As I grew older, I got to study at universities where I was taught America is evil and other bs.
Today, I'm poor and my beloved parents and their friends are well off Swedish intellectuals.
I don't care about their ideals and lifestyle, but please believe me when I say my country still loves true American spirit:

(Yes, this is Europe!)
Thank you!
Sometimes the only way to explain or understand it is to live it.
America, the real America, is optimism on wheels.
TY, I thank the Creator for folks like you, and please keep the faith!
- Thank you, America for real cars!!

All Europeans are not named Chirac.
God bless ya!
I’m not poor, but I have been. When you are rich in mind, heart and spirit, you are wealthier than a good many fat cats.
Thank you for the video.... it reminds me of my wild and fun youth.

- Perhaps I don’t have a say, but if I do, I’d say
“Bull’s eye”.

Nothing is more American than being a US Navy sailor on a ship entering a foreign port anywhere. You lose your teenage leftist, Rolling Stone-inspired cynicism forever when you see the people on the pier waiting to see you.

- You just made me richer.
Best of regards from a car producing town in Scandinavia!
I’m sorry you’re poor! I’m sure you could find a nice job in hot, humid North Carolina, and everyone would give you meals because we always have too much!
“Im sorry youre poor!”
- Thank you, but cry no tears.
I have everything I need and like said, my parents are well off.
Admittedly, I’m somewhat lazy, but I do actually work every now and then.
My incomes might not be that very impressive, but I have made fearful investments..
Bttt

- That about says it all.
Sincere thanks for commenting to my thread communicating wisdom.
I mean it.
Anyhow:

We are close neighbors of Russia and see no other way but arming ourselves.

I have loved ‘America’ in the past as well. I still very much love that America.
But today it is with qualification which is that is ‘Which America are you talking about?’ But there’s been a bit too much cultural, societal, and intellectual rot that’s occurred since then for me to make blanket statements anymore. Every time I turn on the television, I cannot help but cringe. My, how far we have fallen.
The truth is, the America I love had a lot more class, better taste, and a lot more basic common sense. It’s nor just an American thing - it’s a Western Civilizational thing. The breakdown seems even worse in Europe.
Now it feels like we’ve stepped into Late Antiquity Version 2.0.
- Perhaps I dont have a say, but if I do, Id say Bulls eye.America, the real America, is optimism on wheels.
The preamble to the Constitution of the United States begins with its mission statement:to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our PosterityBelief in liberty - the ability to choose - as a good thing is the essence of belief in progress. When you hear of "Progressivism" which is actually socialism, and socialism which is actually governmentism - i.e., tyranny - you know that "Progressivism" is a fraud.Real progressivism is belief in liberty. Accept no substitute.
In the eyes of the World, America is a young nation.
However, she compensates her lack of experience in World affairs through unparallelled insight into matters intrinsic to human development (spare J. Carter), but above all in terms of self respect.
I am a Viking and I respect nobody, but I actually fancy America some.
