Benishek Up As Counties Continue to Certify Primary Results
By Tricia Miller | August 9, 2010 6:46 PM
Surgeon Dan Benishek leads state Sen. Jason Allen in the county-level canvassing process sorting out last week's tight Republican primary results in Michigan's 1st district.
With 16 of 31 counties certifying their results, Benishek is ahead by 18 votes, according to his campaign.
After the initial unofficial vote count, Benishek was just one vote ahead of Allen in the northern Michigan district currently represented by retiring Rep. Bart Stupak (D). The count: 27,091 to 27,090.
Once the counties certify the results, the state board of elections will have to certify the results. Then the campaigns will have 48 hours to ask for a recount before a nominee is chosen tol face state Rep. Gary McDowell (D).
CQ-Roll Call rates this race a Tossup. Check out the ratings for other House contests with our election map.
MI Ping.
I hope Allen does the right thing for once.
I think Dr. Benishek is a good man. Although not a polished speaker i.e., Bullshi!!er, he loves this Country and sees the need for conservative change. Don’t know anything about this Allen guy.
If you would like to be added or dropped from the Michigan ping list, please freepmail me.
Ping!!!
yawn...
Plan ahead for 2012, when Michigan will have two fewer Congressional seats, and Texas will have two more, just like in 2002...
Pretty soon, Michigan will be like Alaska, and have just one Congressman - and that will probably still be one of the Levin brothers.
Who STILL won’t have a clue.
When the Census numbers come in, Michigan will either stay at 15 congressional districts or lose 1 district. The only states, if any, that will lose two congressmen by 2012 will be NY and OH.
Pretty soon Detroit will have no people so maybe a literal RAT will get elected. Or maybe a roach.
I’d go with a pigeon of course but they won’t get 5% of the vote.
Jason Allen is the man who introduced the bill that forced home care workers into a union against their will.
I think the Marxist Levins know exactly what they’re doing.
Just another piece of political sh!t, enough said!
