Thanks to CATO’s Jim Harper, we discover that the slovenly work of Obama’s Congress is so bad that they are now passing bills that they haven’t even bothered to name. It’s been bad enough that the Democrats have affixed to bills names that are entirely Orwellian in nature, but now they aren’t even bothering to think that hard.
In the recent past we’ve gotten bills named in ways that convey the precise opposite nature of what the bill does. We’ve had the “Employee Free Choice Act” that actually takes away worker’s choice, we’ve had the “Uniting American Families Act” that doesn’t unite American families but unites families of illegal immigrants, and we’ve had the “Freedom of Choice Act” which takes away the freedom of a fetus to chose life, apparently.
But as Harper informs us we’ve finally gotten to the nub of the matter. The Democrats are tired of sinking all their brain power into thinking up bill names that hide their true intent. It’s just so taxing on these busy, busy congressmen, ya know? Now they have gotten so lazy that they aren’t naming the bills at all.
Apparently Pelosi’s lazy House of Representatives has just passed H.R. 1586 which is proudly titled the “XXXXXX Act of XXXX.”
What? Here’s how Harper explains this foolishness…
The Senate’s substitute amendment on this $26 billion spending bill had a placeholder bill name, and it could not take time to replace the placeholder. The House is expected to return this week and pass the Senate amendment, sending it to the president.And since the Senate is now out of session, and because both houses have to pass bills sporting the same name, the bill will not legally be re-named from this placeholder title and will have to go into law as the “XXXXXX Act of XXXX.”
As Harper says, “the ‘law with no name’ will stand as a lasting tribute to the inattention Congress gives its work. Spending billions of taxpayer dollars is a hurried and casual affair for our lawmakers.”
Indeed.
I say that instead of six X’s in the title, they should have stuck with just three because this whole thing is obscene.

They don’t bother to pass a budget. Why should they be expected to name the bills? Or read them? Or answer questions from the voters?
Congress allowed The Usurper to run for President even though he does not meet Constitutional requirements.
This Congress should be tried for treason, and all the ‘laws enacted’ declared null and void.
There is going to be a day of reckoning with or without a Second Civil War. Hopefully, without, but if necessary ...
No one wants to take credit. But Obama’s gotta sign them all, so why don’t we name all of them the “Obama Act?”
is there anyway to find out what they are passing or why republicans are not informing the public..are they mia?

Is there nowhere we can turn for redress for criminal and Constitutional negligence like this Congress has shown?
They’re busy handing out KY Jelly to the Democrats and trying to stay out of sight [and out of mind] so that the “angry electorate” will vote Republican and not some third party.
Sounds like a Republican Commercial in the making, if they would only go on the offensive and stay there!

The names are no longer needed after gems like “Improper Payments Elimination and Recovery Act”
Congress has gone full retard and all must be voted out.

This is a new low in stupidity. But it’s funny too.
At this point in time, our only redress is the ballot box.
Why not just go alphabetical each year like they do hurricanes. The Aardvark act of 2010. The Bear act of 2010. The Cat act of 2010. Etc.
I know you’re right. I guess we just found a small flaw in the Constitution as written: the Congress and the President don’t really need to follow it because there is no mechanism beyond the ballot box for more urgent action.

This is a common error. A bill becomes law automatically when passed by both houses of Congress with or without the President’s signature. Except if the POTUS vetoes it. See Const., Art 1, Sec. 7. The intent of the FF was to make Congress supreme in passing laws. Signing bills is merely for publicity, practiced by every president, to show his agreement.
Hence, if Ubuma is declared ineligible, all the laws he signed remain in force. Since signing a bill is merely “symbolic”, whether signed by a legitimate office holder or not is irrelevant. Every court and common sense will understand Art 1, Sec 7 as meaning the bills became law without a President’s signature, as provided for.

Why bother to name these bills they want to pass when they don’t even read them and have no idea of what is them before they approve them.
