The 1,200 National Guard troops that are being deployed incrementally to the southwest border will not be doing direct law enforcement, said U.S. National Guard Bureau Director of Communications Jack Harrison when asked if the forces would be interdicting drugs and undocumented immigrants.
The two mission sets are criminal analysts and enter-identification team, Harrison told CNSNews.com. I can tell you that guardsmen will not be doing direct law enforcement on the southwest border.
In other words, the National Guardsmen will not be used to actually stop and detain illegal aliens trying to sneak across the border into the United States.
Harrison made his comments on Friday during a bloggers roundtable sponsored by the Department of Defense (DOD).
When CNSNews.com asked if the National Guard assessed whether 1,200 troops were adequate to accomplish the mission assigned by the Department of Homeland Security and DOD, Harrison said, DHS and DOD determined the number necessary for this request and I dont have anything further on that part of your question...
On July 19, Gen. Craig McKinley, commander of the National Guard, indicated that although the forces will be armed, they will be limited by rules of engagement that allow them to shoot only in self-defense. "The rules for the use of force will be well-coordinated, and they're the same as our counternarcotics teams that are there now -- for self-preservation only, self-defense only," he said.
Harrison further said that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the DOD were responsible for determining the number of troops to be deployed incrementally along the approximately 2,000-mile southwest border.
This deployment involves up to 1,200 National Guardsmen for up to 365 days or 1 year, and it is scaled based on what DHS requested of DOD and is essentially to allow the hiring and training of approximately 1,000 more agents that is part of a larger plan at DHS for the southwest border, said Harrison.
Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
“Did anybody really think they were being put there to start just machine-gunning women and children running across the border? Setting claymores?”
There are quite a few other things, like simply being there with arms, to discourage illegal crossings.
Nobody is suggesting your ridiculous scenario. Our troops have more sense than you give them credit for.
Sadly, we already knew this and the guard that is going was requested by MEXICO to stop OUR $$$ and guns from entering Mexico. But that doesn’t stop this administration from letting the populace think they’re actually doing something about the border.

Mexico asks National Guard to combat crime and not immigrants
Mexicos Secretary of Foreign Relations (SRE) requested that the 1,200 US National Guard soldiers sent to the Mexican border by President Obama be used to pursue organized criminals and not immigrants. Mexico is confident that the personnel of the National Guard will strengthen the operations to combat transnational organized crime that exists on both sides of the border and ( ) not undertake activities directly connected to the application of migratory laws, said Secretary Patricia Espinosa Cantellano in a communique. In the message, she reiterated that the Mexican government respects the sovereign decisions of the US, but demanded that this decision of Obamas result in channeling additional resources to reinforce the prevention of illegal traffic of arms and cash money to Mexico.
In a related story, Joel Hernandez, judicial adviser for the SRE explained that the Mexican government has no recourse in the International Court to legally stop Arizonas new law, SB 1070, for lack of jurisdictional grounds to challenge a state law. Mexico can only assist in US law suits as friend of the court.

Illegal entrants can rest easy
Washington, D.C. The US National Guard sent to reinforce the border will seek to stop illegal traffic and not be used to enforce immigration law, the US State Department affirmed today. The Mexican government had requested that the soldiers not be used against immigrants. What the president announced today is totally consistent with our efforts to do our part in counteracting violence and to halt the flow of dangerous people and property: arms and drugs, said the State Departments spokesman, Philip Crowley. It doesnt have to do with immigration. It doesnt have to do with the flow of certain things that come to this side of the border, Crowley said,

US National Guard troops being sent to the Mexican border will be used to stem the flow of guns and drugs across the frontier and not to enforce US immigration laws, the State Department said Wednesday. The clarification came after the Mexican government urged Washington not to use the additional troops to go after illegal immigrants.

The troops have more sense indeed, than anyone who thinks you can just stand there with guns, and illegal crossings will stop. Everybody knows we’re not going to be shooting unarmed civilians at the border.
“than anyone who thinks you can just stand there with guns, and illegal crossings will stop”
An all or nothing scenario is ridiculous. Nobody suggested that, either.
Maybe they will be there to give out cold drinks, fresh clothes and offer maps to sanctuary states. (after writing this sarcastic statement, I wouldn’t be surprised at all if they had to do that)
I’ll guess that you forgot your sarcasm tag.
I keep reading stories where the Obama Administration is deporting illegals in unprecedented numbers. Do you believe that? I don’t know whether to believe it or not!
.
Help Texas watch her borders.
Watch live on 14 cameras and report illegal alien invaders.
Night cams in operation
http://www.blueservo.net/index.php?error=nlg
Does it work? Yes.
Best time to catch them is at night.
Recently caught on cam and reported:
String of illegals running through brush with backpacks
Numerous sightings of boats crossing the river
Numerous vehicles late at night in isolated areas
IMMENSELY satisfying
.
For the AFIRE ping list.
But you’re probably not surprised, either.

What? Did you really expect them to do something other than protect illegal aliens from the likes of Joe Arpaio or the Minutemen?
Do you believe that?
Nope. Believe me if that were true we would be seeing protests, marches and an outcry from hispanic groups.
I don’t! I keep reading that though. From what I read about a month ago, they were having them fired from where they worked, but otherwise doing nothing to them! They definitely were not deporting them! I just keep reading that they were deporting them in “unprecedented numbers” (paraphrase), and wondered if anyone else read that as well.
For some reason, I was having trouble believing that; especially given Obama administration’s attitude regarding immigration/Arizona’s immigration law. It didn’t make sense that they would be deporting them in, how did they put it, “unprecedented numbers”!
¡Alto! Somos la Guardia Nacional y le estamos ordenando a detener! Usted será observado y reportado por nosotros. Tenga un buen día.
It is the duty of Mexico to shoot unarmed civilians who are trying to escape into America. At least that is what the Russians used to do at the Berlin wall, isn’t it.
