(CNSNews.com) - Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina said that Jesuss Golden Rule inspired him to vote to confirm Elena Kagan to the U.S. Supreme Court and suggested it would be a good thing for his Senate colleagues to also ponder Jesuss words as they prepared to vote on Kagan.
It is divine in its orientation, and it is probably something that would serve us all well if we thought about it at moments such as this, Sen. Graham said on the Senate floor, as he pointed his colleagues to the Golden Rule and counseled them to look to the wisdom of somebody far wiser than I am as they cast their votes on Kagan.
As an associate counsel in the Clinton White House, Kagan was an architect of the legal and political strategy that President Bill Clinton used in vetoing the ban on partial-birth abortion. Her nomination by President Barack Obama in May was instantly endorsed by Planned Parenthood, one of the nations leading advocates of legalized abortion.
In casting his vote for Kagan, Sen. Graham said he expected her to follow a voting pattern similar to Justice John Paul Stevens whom she will replace. In his more than three decades on the court, Justice Stevens persistently backed the position that there is a constitutional right to abortion.
But at the end of the day, those of us in the Senate have to understand that every branch of government includes human beings and there is a rule that stood the test of time, said Sen. Graham in an August 3 Senate floor speech. I didn't make this one up. It was somebody far wiser than I am, somebody far more gifted than I ever hope to be, somebody I put a lot of trust in.
It is called the Golden Rule, said Graham. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. That is probably one of the most powerful statements ever made. It is divine in its orientation, and it is probably something that would serve us all well if we thought about it at moments such as this. "
Graham also said Kagan meets the test the Framers envisioned for a Supreme Court Justice.
I am going to vote for Elena Kagan because I believe constitutionally she meets the test the Framers envisioned for someone to serve on the Court, said Graham. I don't think the Framers ever envisioned Lindsey Graham from South Carolina voting no because President Obama picked someone who is clearly different than I would have chosen.
Sen. Graham was one of only five Republicans to vote to confirm Kagan to the Supreme Court. The other four were Senators Susan Collins of Maine, Judd Gregg of New Hampshire, Richard Lugar of Indiana, and Olympia Snowe of Maine. The Senate confirmed Kagan, 63-37, on Thursday, Aug. 5. Sen. Ben Nelson of Nebraska was the only Democrat who voted against the confirmation of Kagan.
The Golden Rule is found in the Gospels of Mark and Luke. In the Gospel of Luke, Jesus says during the Sermon on the Mount: Do to others as you would have them do to you.
Blasphemy and Gay Scottish law all in one quote.
All those abortion supporters should be loaned a weapon, or poison and asked if they want to make their abortion retroactive?
The guy is crackers.
Thanks markomalley.

mal-quote is putting it lightly. Goober is an abomination.
Kagan manipultated medical science to fit the Democratic party’s political agenda on the hot-button issue of abortion when Kagan FORCED the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) to modify their report on partial-birth abortion aka murder into saying it was acceptable when their original reoprt stated the exact opposite:

Elena Kagan participated in a gigantic scientific deception. On behalf of the Clinton White House, she deliberately subverted what was supposed to be an objective scientific process.

NOW TO GOOBER DEFENDING EVIL:
Ephesians 6:10-17
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground...
1 Peter 5:8-10
Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him...
Psalm 34:13
Keep your tongue from evil
And your lips from speaking deceit.
Isaiah 5:20
Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil;
Who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness;
Who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!
Proverbs 17:15
He who justifies the wicked and he who condemns the righteous,
Both of them alike are an abomination to the LORD.
Ugh.
He was specifically elected to be a representative of the people. How has he applied the Golden Rule to them with this vote?
BTW, Rush DOES call him "Grahamnesty"... that's a start.
Whether it is “The Word” or “The Golden Rule” perverts and other atheists in the Ruling Class use articles of faith with no understanding. Pelosi and Graham are the dimmest of bulbs making claims to knowledge of the Brightest of Light. They are lost in the darkness of their personal hell.
I’m pretty sure Jesus is saying “get off my side”, idiot.
Well, for what it’s worth, Graham can’t travel in South Carolina without a platoon of armed Pretorean guards.
Which, of course, brings up the question of the mercenaries and traitors guarding Graham...and what to do with these scum.
Hitler would have never survived without the SA and later Himmler’s SS.
“Vanity of vanities, thou hast placed thy political career ahead of your Lord.”
Unless he switches parties or his constituents all suffer from amnesia, his political career is toast. Trying to equate himself with the Lord is beyond hypocrisy.
If Graham really expected to ever see Jesus he wouldn’t lie so much.
New graphic to steal.
The reasoning in Lindsay Graham’s head probably went like this: “As far as the Golden Rule goes, would I want someone to tell me I couldn’t encourage abortion? Then I will not get in the way of anyone who encourages abortion myself”...
Stalin could have used the Golden Rule, too, by the following: “Would I want to stop my henchmen from killing my perceived enemies? Then I won’t stop having them killed myself”.
