Sager's past life as protester raising eyebrows
Hernando Today TBO.com ^ | July 30, 2010 | MICHAEL D. BATES

Posted on 08/06/2010 10:24:47 AM PDT by ynotjjr

BROOKSVILLE - Jason Sager doesn't have to look at someone else's pictures of the Twin Towers attack in New York City on Sept. 11, 2001. {cut}

But around January 2003, he also joined a group of about a hundred other young like-minded activists and became a member of the New York chapter of Protest Warrior, often dressing up as communist revolutionary Che Guevara.

Protest Warrior was a satirical, covert group who crashed anti-war and anti-George Bush protest events and blended in with the group. Members would hold up mock signs purporting to espouse the same liberal views.

And it was his one-year involvement with this unorthodox movement that has raised eyebrows from the chairmen of the local Republican and Democratic parties.

"I think Mr. Sager has some explaining to do to the electorate," said Blaise Ingoglia, chairman of the Republican Party of Hernando County.

Ingoglia said he is concerned Sager's past life as a New York City Protest Warrior will give the Democrats more ammunition in the election and this 5th Congressional seat is a seat the Republicans cannot lose.

Ingoglia said he had not heard about Protest Warrior until being told by a Hernando Today reporter Friday. He said he did some quick research and visited some Internet sites and the messages he found are highly disturbing.

"Jason Sager claims this was supposed to be satirical (but) I can't see how dressing up as a communist revolutionary, who murdered hundreds of people, is funny in any way, shape or form," Ingoglia said.

Perhaps because of his black wavy hair and facial features, Sager often dressed up as Argentine Marxist revolutionary Guverra and joined his fellow Warriors, who would don wigs and wardrobes — depending on the rally — to impersonate revolutionaries Fidel Castro or Vladimir Lenin.

No argument...I thought you were saying it couldn't be haha funny...again, much of Saturday Night Live is NOT very funny, but some of their satirical pieces are brilliant. And funny. And is "Animal Farm" satire or an allegory? I dunno...I'll leave it for the English majors...

But, I certainly agree with you...much if not MOST satire is not haha funny.

She's not the only one. The blogger who posted her e-mail message, JAZ Zydenbos, hates Sager with establishment passion:

When confronted, Sager called his actions “political satire” perhaps more accurately; he had worn the uniforms and impersonated the American enemies of capitalism, communism and Marxism.

Draw your own conclusions and visit http://protestwarrior.com. There you can savor the radical roots of Sager’s past and present day thinking. It is very informative, hateful and combative. So radical in fact, it makes Rush Limbaugh appear liberal.

According to recent comments about the Hernando Today article from heads from both the Democrat and Republican organizations in Hernando County, leaders see Sager as being somewhat of an unstable right wing wacko. One of the few things the local political party heads agree upon.

Wow, I never post much but I have to admit, it was very cool to get such a response from the Class of 98 which I am a proud member of. That said, if Kristinn, Pharmboy, Intersting Times, dirtboy, Lurker, airbone, donna, jennys cool are on one side are on one side, I sure as heck don’t want to be on the other. You convinced me!

Looking at the material you referenced, it seems the photo showing the sign and the costume have been edited IE: cropped, removing the www.protestwarrior.com site at the bottom of the sign.

When it comes to creditability, I would think that would be a misrepresentation of the facts.

First, I said that upon further review, based on the opinion of so many of my FR friends I changed my mind, the folks here can do that. I do take offense to the remark that I come here to smear Jason Sager. I’ve been coming here for a long time, longer than you and I feel safe to speak freely to my friends here. If you want my public postion go to www.OurtownFLA.com/Politics and view Mr. Sager in his debate with Sheriff Nugent and tell me if I played it fair and balanced. The reason that the local Tea Party movement and Republican Party is behind Sheriff Nugent is he has a track record of leadership. He has served his country in the military and in law enforcement, the last 10 years as Sheriff. He has two sons who graduated from West Point, all three are serving, the two oldest in Iraq/Afganistan. I haven’t recieved anything from the Nugent Campaign I just compared records not speeches. Sager hasn’t had much sucess in business spending the better part of the last two years before announcing on unemployement collecting close to $20,000, which is ok but then don’t go around telling people they shouldn’t get their share of gov’t cheese. The 5th Congressional District has one of the highest number of vets in the country and is not an entry level position.

Yep, Doctor Raoul always said calling someone a hater is a liberal’s way of saying you don’t have to listen to what a conservative has to say.

Ok kristinn, after reading your post I now feel I was correct in my original conclusion. I don’t like it when they do it and therefore I don’t condone it when we do it, even if we are on the side of the angels. and anyway, you can catch stuff going to one of those leftist rally’s!

Both of the signs below are satire, one from commiesforkerry and the other one protest warriors

Time Mag Cover 2005

Time thought the one of Coulter was a legitimate sign made by leftists.

I was at a giant leftist march in DC several years ago where the Protest Warriors got in the front of the march with their signs and actually led the march for quite some time!

It was hilarious.

The other candidate does have an impressive resume. Not being from the area I'm not familiar with him. I do know the Protest Warriors, however.

A poster at Red State says Sager will be on the radio in the next hour:

Jason Sager on the Radio today 3:00-4:00 drive time happy hour WSKY FM for streaming audio.

Good job.

As Modo articles are expected to include CZJ pictures, any PW thread should include Belly-girl.

It’s a delicate dance that they pulled off well. I marched and worked with them many times. I also dealt with numerous leftist infiltrators of D.C. Chapter rallies. The two cannot be compared as to behavior, signs, body odor, etc.

I was sort of with the group Protest Warriors as well. It was because of that group at least that we formed. Though we never infiltrated the left-wing groups at all but just set up across from them and counter protested them by holding Support the Troop rallies. Mostly out in front of Ft Monmouth, NJ.

If he was a protest warrior, he should be given hero status.

For the record, the time or two I saw them in action they were slick and appeared to have money. Any idea who was backing them?

The thing that impressed me most was their enthusiastic youth

It's kinda scary that someone with such a feeble grasp of the Constitution could reach a position of leadership in a Tea Party organization.

Her tea party group consists of 7 members, including herself.

So Edna is the "leader" of 6 tea party members, all of whom may not agree with her and in fact may not even participate in that small group anymore.

It's part of the Tea Party Patriots who's main contribution (IMO) is inspiring hundreds of tea party groups to be formed.

The leadership of the TPP (Meckler and Martin) are self appointed leaders of the TPM who many times undermine legitimate tea party orgs/people if they don't acknowledge Tea Party Patriots as their leaders.

It doesn't have much effect as most tea partiers are self motivated and don't much cotton to self appointed leadership that attempts to lead those that don't subscribe to being sheep for the leaders.

Mark Meckler came to a Free Republic sponsored tea party back in February 2009 (the beginning) but wasn't involved in the organization of the event at all.

Some months later while being interviewed he was bragging about how many people HE had at that teaparty and took credit for organizing it.

The Protest Warriors rock.

Why it’s disturbing to a Nazi and a Communist, of course.

I’m sure that George Soros and Barack Obama wouldn’t like it at all.

IIRC, PW and "Belly Girl" herself asked that FR no longer regularly post that wonderful photo of the beautiful young lady, and being decent Freepers, we complied.
