ROBSTOWN--It's the second major drug bust in Robstown in as many weeks. Police said a man was selling cocaine out of a taqueria. The first bust happening this morning at Taco Loco on the 100 block of Business 44 in Robstown. Then, police headed to the suspect's home less than 2 miles down on East Avenue B. There, they found even more cocaine.
After a six-month undercover investigation, Robstown Police raided the Taco Loco, shutting down a drug operation. They said tacos weren't the only thing on the menu.
"It's kind of hard to believe you could go in and order a taco and get drugs at the same time," said Chief Johnny Brown of the Robstown Police Department.
35-year-old Simon Carrillo walked out of the Taco Loco and had no comment about his arrest. Investigators said he was dealing drugs with an order of tacos at this well-established restaurant.
Inside they found more than $1,600 in cash believed to be from drug deals. They also discovered 11 packages of cocaine ready to be sold in a coffee can and a digitial scale.
The chief explained how the drug business would work at this taqueria.
"They would go in there and order a 50 taco," Chief Brown said. 50 taco is a $50 paper of cocaine and a taco. It's pretty crazy."
Investigators also went to Carrillo's home a few miles away from the restaurant. Inside the kitchen cabinet, the suspect told officers where to find 11 grams of cocaine.
Next up, police will look at seizing the restaurant or the home, if they can determine it was bought from drug money.
Carrillo is in the Nueces County Jail. He's facing a second-degree felony charge of drug trafficking.
Now I see why he named it Taco Loco!

Wow these powder donuts are selling like crazy!
The thing about Taco Loco is that an hour after you’ve had one 50 taco, you want another...
Crazy Taco. Ayup!
And here I always thought they were a retailer of premium grade auto parts.
You want some hot sauce with that, senor?
So that’s what made their salsa special.
When I attended Calallen HS in the late 80s we would go to Robstown to buy beer illegally. It was easy. Rtown has always been crazy.
