Angle: Democrats want to 'make government our God'
LOS ANGELES (AP) - Nevada U.S. Senate candidate Sharron Angle sees her campaign as a battle to stop Democrats in Washington who want to expand entitlement programs and "make government our God."
In an interview with a Christian radio network, Angle describes her effort to oust Majority Leader Harry Reid as a religious calling in "a war of ideology, it's a war of thoughts and of faith."
Reid, President Barack Obama and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi have pushed "entitlement programs built to make government our God," says Angle,
who has called for privatizing Social Security and Medicare for younger workers. "What's happening in this country is a violation of the First Commandment," Angle told Trunews in the April interview, which is posted on the network's website.
"We have become a country entrenched in idolatry, and that idolatry is the dependency upon our government. We're supposed to depend upon God for our protection and our provision and for our daily bread, not for our government," she said. Reid's campaign said in a statement Wednesday that Angle's statements are "frightening."

I agree that people have made Gov’t their god, I don’t get however how so-called “privatization” is a free market solution.
FORCING people to put money into the stock market under the guise of saving social security is a disastrous idea.
And again, forcing people to contribute to a privately managed Medicare solution is... Obamacare!
How about, Gov’t, you protect the country from invasions, build a few roads, and just get out of our way?

“Government as God” - doesn’t the pretty well encapsulate the reigning philosophy of the old Soviet Union?
They do want a government “god”, and NV is no more reliable than any other state.
You are right, but the American people are wrong.
The problem with a belief in government as God is that “true believers” seek to eliminate those who believe in any other god. Which is exactly what happened in other totalitarian countries - in Nazi Germany, it the Soviet Union, in fundamentalist Muslim countries and in other communist countries.
THAT is how they demonstrate their belief in the government god and liberals have been sowing the seeds for that to happen here for the past 50 years, starting with the abolishment of prayer in schools.

You speak the truth. Just today an aquaintance of mine at the dog park told me the scariest story. She is a single mom, long story, bad choice of sperm donor, you know the drill. But at least she kept her adorable daughter and is doing her best to raise her well. The father is a deadbeat who will only pay small bits of child support when forced by a judge.
She asked for help from the state only for insurance. She was told that because she is working and has family insurance available even if at a high cost, she was not eligible. But the Child and Family svs worker elaborated that if she QUIT HER JOB she could have ins, food stamps, sec 8 housing for free, and lots of other goodies.
What kind of world do we live in where working people are encouraged/bribed to leave gainful employment and become bums? Kudos to this young lady for having none of it. She wants to be a good example to her kid and raise her so as to avoid the mistakes she made. The state wants her to make it a never ending circle.

is a great theme (meme) for the nationalization of the 2010 election. I hope all conservative candidates use the phrase.
Of course, that’s exactly the theme of atheistic socialism.

The Catholic Church wouldn’t condone abortion, however, they do not back candidates, just issues. I sure like Sharron’s stance on Life.
its our own government State Department brings in thousands and thousands of immigrants into the United States. Do you think it’s a coincidence the highest immigrant populations since 1992 to the present New York 40% California 30% Florida 25% Michigan 25% Pennsylvania 25% Texas 25% Now add up the electoral college numbers in those states. The Communist state department is doing their job..
