As a logical consequence of the prolonged economic downturn it appears that participation in the federal food stamp program is continuing to rise.
In fact, household participation has been climbing so steadily that it has far surpassed the last peak set as a result of the immediate fallout following hurricane Katrina.
The latest data released by the Department of Agriculture shows that, on a year-over-year basis, household participation has increased 21.28% while individual participation, as a ratio of the overall population, has increased 17.55% over the same period

This is a VERY significant rise in one year. Of course, it will be blamed on GW - as everything else is.

Perhaps it’s not a result of joblessness - perhaps it is because there are more illegal immigrants in the country. They LOVE those food stamps.
The gubbermint has been out actively recruiting new enrollees as fast as their clipboards could go.
At what point will they quit handing out food stamps and open up the soup lines?
Seems that these folks should start buying vegetable seeds.
