Rush Limbaugh: There Is No Proof Tomorrow Is President Obamas Birthday
by Frances Martel | 2:16 pm, August 3rd, 2010
Happy Birthday, President Obama! Tomorrow, our 44th president turns 49, and Rush Limbaugh would really love to wish him many happy returns, sincerely. Actually, thats not true: This morning, Limbaugh refused to send good wishes to the President, because he doesnt believe tomorrow is his birthday, since we havent seen any proof of that.
Limbaughs relationship with the birther movement is quite sophisticated hes never quite outright called himself a birther or legitimized their claims, but once in a while will make an indirect, tongue-in-cheek reference to an irrelevant topic that ties it together with the birther conspiracy (ie, Obama would get deported in Arizona). This works for him because it is entertaining, not bold enough to get him in hot water with the Republican Party, and just bold enough to make the birthers think hes in on it. No one who would call Limbaugh out on flirting with the birthers would not have already condemned him for some other comment he has made on his show, which minimizes the possible damage. Its a dance that many, most recently Louisiana Senator David Vitter, try to engage in with little success, but Limbaugh manages to balance rather skillfully.
Todays birther nod was embedded in what began like a birthday message but ended as a condemnation of Democratic fundraisers exploitative tactics, taking a detour through Birther Square along the way:
Tomorrow is Obamas birthday not that weve seen any proof of that but tomorrow is Obamas birthday, and theyre trying to rally Obamas base by sending out fundraising letters what? What? We havent seen any proof of that! Sorry, it is what it is.
Audio below:
You should probably ask birthers who expect Limbaugh to support them.
They eat crap every single day.
See! Now THIS is the way you handle the BIRTH CERTIFICATE issue! LOL
I don’t MIND the questions about the Birth Certificate — some of them are LEGIT. What I mind are the tinfoil hat, conspiracy theorist, alien hunter fringe folks that make even the most LEGITIMATE questioners APPEAR to be MORONS.
There are WAYS of getting your point across, and there are ways to lead yourself and everyone around you to a dead end in the middle of nowhere. Rush knows the RIGHT way. Many of the most vociferous “birthers” DO NOT.
HA! (Home schooled?)
Everyday feels like what I imagine labor & child birth
to feel like.
Trust me labor and child birth is much easier to take. Plus you get a lovable little bundle at the end instead of a knife in your back.
Good for Rush to have some fun with this issue.
The thing most annoying about the ‘Where is the Birth Certifigate?’ issue is that it overshadows the real issue involving the ‘natural born citizen’ Presidential eligibility clause of our Constitution.
If this issue comes up with liberals they instantly want to go to the birth certifigate and rant about newspaper postings and so on and ridicule you as a conspiracy theorist. This smear may not be founded at all but it is a diversion I believe from the real issue.
The real issue that needs to be addressed is whether Obama is eligible with what is already known about him. He is not a ‘natural born’ citizen and ‘We the People’ should not be denied ‘standing’ in having the Courts rule on the issue.
It is a travesty that the American people can not address the Court on an extremely important Constitutional issue.
>”In a magazine interview Obama and his wife Michelle revealed that one of their steadfast house rules is not giving Christmas or birthday presents to Malia, 10, and Sasha, seven.<
It goes against Muslim teachings ...
I agree. Unfortunately, I was eating at the time and had to ruin the environment by using a few extra napkins to clean up a tiny mess. I blame Rush.
Did we throw big parties for President Bush or was it just another day?
Is it your position that Obama has provided adequate proof of his birth place and date? Or do you just think it’s all a moot point?
She’s 46? Are you joking?
She looks about 29.
That's irrelevant. His Kenyan father disqualifies him from eligibility.
He could have been born on the steps of the Washington monument on July 4th and it would make no difference.
The moot point is arguing about it.
Nothing will be done.
Seek realistic answers to the problems we face, not magic "make it all go away" solutions.
Exactly what I was getting at above but you said it much more concise and to the point.
Arguing about the birth certifigate is a diversion from the real issue.
You couldn't be more wrong.
I can't stand Obama, his agenda, Pelosi, or Reid and everything they are doing to my wonderful country.
But almost as much, I can't stand birthers who sell the false hope of an easy solution. Supreme Court decisions that will automatically remove him, banana republic style military coups to remove him, and all sorts of bizarre scenarios substituting for thoughtful political strategy, fueled by unfounded conspiracies.
Birtherism is a potential drag on November successes.
Well actually I shouldnt have posted so quickly.
I agree with the first half of your post but I do think that eligibility issue is something that must continue to be pushed until it is addressed.
Eventually if the people persist something more will be done.
The issue needs to be resolved regardless of whether it removes Obama from office or not.
We can not just accept having people with foreign alliegances as President. This issue needs to be pushed and addressed.
Ah! Semi-home schooled! Good on you! Raising a few patriots isn't so hard.
WHEW! For a second there I thought crap came IN Cheerios!
