On Friday President Obama was in the Motor City to toot his own horn, to tell the story that without his leadership things would be worse:
"Today, for the first time since 2004, all three U.S. automakers are operating at a profit, the first time in six years," he told cheering workers at a Chrysler assembly plant.
"Today, U.S. automakers have added 55,000 jobs since last June, the strongest job growth in more than 10 years in the auto industry," Mr. Obama said.
"Do you feel sometimes like your administration is not given the credit it deserves?" asked Smith.
"Yes," Mr. Obama laughed. "But here's the reason: We've gone through the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression. No other depression comes close. When people have gone through that much trauma, people have every right to be scared, to be angry, to be frustrated. And I don't expect the American people to be satisfied when we're only half of the way back."
With approval ratings in the forties, an economy that is displaying a failure to thrive, and unemployment numbers that hardly budge, the president is back on the road - and back on the air, with humor, resuming his role as Explainer-in-Chief.

I heard some of his speech, that 4 in the auto industry, and he named NAMES, won the lottery, and they shared their wealth with their workers. I wonder how many impoverished people are even MORE impoverished as they all want to win the lottery. I think this is one way he sees to stimulate growth.

What “success” is that Barry? I’m doing the same job I’ve been doing for the past 10 years. My pay has gone into the toilet. The way things are going with your Obamanomics, I’ll soon be paying my employer to work there.
This is like an arsonist dumping flammable liquid on your house, throwing a match on it, running away, and crying because they don’t get ‘credit’ for their work. It will take a decade of concerted effort to prevent the multiple collapses that this administration and congress have set into motion from coming to fruition. I’m a little skeptical as to whether it can even be done at this point.
I’m old enough to remember when you could write a check and run down the street to write another to cover the first one...it was called floating a check...yes I have done it...it works till you run out of gas...GM is making a “profit” because the US Government is “floating” their check...the Government is about to run out of gas...sit tight America...The idiots that voted for “change” are about to find out how to count change...literally...Oh, and for those who voted for this President...I want to give you a heads up...100 pennies = 1 Dollar!
Keeping UAW goons employed with our tax dollars, ruining our kids’ and grandkids’ future, bankrupting the rest of the country — for what? Keeping a company alive that a free market would have forced into radical restructuring and then telling that company to build PC products that nobody wants. Credit for WHAT?
He’s just getting ahead of himself a bit. He wants to be another FDR. As long as the MSM continues to tell the story his way, I’m sure someone will believe it.
However, the truth is this ‘depression’ was caused by the ‘progressive’ agenda that the voters approved in 2006. The dumb masses fail to realize how the government works.
Yes, the scoundrel mongrel sat on the back bench of the Senate carping at W every day, never once giving him credit for anything, and he has constantly blamed W unceasingly for 18 months - and HE wants credit?! for what!? Ruining the country? OK. I’ll give the Devil his due.
