The biases of Christiane Amanpour
The Daily Caller ^ | July 30 2010 | Benjamin Kerstein

Posted on 07/29/2010 10:36:24 PM PDT by Brugmansian

This Sunday, former CNN war correspondent and television host Christiane Amanpour will take over as host of ABC’s venerable public affairs show “This Week.” Her selection for the post, however, has caused a surprisingly potent backlash . . .

The most bitter of these critiques was occasioned by Amanpour’s 2007 documentary series God’s Warriors. The series examined religious extremism in three parts — on Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, respectively. Many Jews and other supporters of Israel were outraged both by the format of the documentary, which equated Judaism and Christianity with radical Islam . . .

Pugnacious conservative writer Michelle Malkin, referring to a tense exchange with Amanpour over waterboarding, called her “happy to spread disinformation about America’s efforts in the war against terror,” and holds that, for Amanpour, “the U.S. is no different than the murderous Khmer Rouge.”

In one unusually candid conversation during the ultimately tragic search for John F. Kennedy, Jr., Amanpour recounted to Larry King how she had been the JFK Jr’s lifelong friend. “It began nearly twenty years ago in college,” she said. “We were college mates. I didn’t go to the same university as he did, but we shared a house off-campus, along with others of his friends who remain friends today.” No one, it seems obvious to point out, who is “college mates” with JFK Jr. can possibly be described as an outsider to the establishment . . .

IMHO, his mediawh### is an islamist/paleostinian symp or stooge. Probably the former given the tenor of her “reporting” over the last 9 years.

Anyone who believes a word she says is a sucker. Again, IMHO.

Christiane Amanpour who? =.=

A member in good standing of the Democratic party coalition; an honored member of the Liberal Establishment.

Yes, she and Haim Saban, Oliver Stone, Jeremiah Wright, Andrew Sullivan, Louis Farrakhan, Howard Dean, La Raza members in California and 3rd grade teachers in Maine who are delegates to the NEA convention do have disagreements on this and that but, at the end of the day, they all support the party and its candidates.

Amanpour's 2007 [crock]umentary series God's Warriors... equated Judaism and Christianity with radical Islam... Amanpour recounted to Larry King how she had been the JFK Jr's lifelong friend... No one, it seems obvious to point out, who is "college mates" with JFK Jr. can possibly be described as an outsider to the establishment...

Yeah. Jake Tapper has been fairly good, by execrable MSM standards anyway. Not that he was that great in himself. He softened questions for Dems and hardened them for Republicans in the usual MSM fashion. But he wasn't quite so bad about that as most, and at least he included some real conservatives on the show's panel discussions.

Jonathan Karl (ABC's senior Congressional correspondent) absolutely rocked the show the handful of times he was allowed to host.

But with Ammandour taking over, This Week will be going off my TIVO list also. Just as Meet the Press already has. David Gregory doesn't even try to be nonpartisan, and almost the only conservatives allowed on his panels are fauxcons like David Brooks.

This will save me some time on Sunday mornings, with FNS being the only show left worth watching.
