SACRAMENTO, CA (KGO) -- A Sacramento woman says a tech support engineer in India managed to expose her secrets and make charges to her credit card after she called him with a desperate request.
...
Shortly thereafter, 16 nude photographs appeared on a vulgar website created for the sole purpose of displaying her pictures.
...
In conversations that became increasingly personal, the support technician offered to help Fitzgerald remove the offensive website and somehow convinced her to ship him a brand new Dell laptop so he could work on her case from his home in Mumbai.

Contacts Dell Computer for help.
Dell Tech in India helps her by finding her pictures and posts them on vulgar site.
Dell Tech gets woman to buy her a a Dell laptop to fix the problem of the vulgar pictures on a website.
California woman. Cheap labor from India hired by Dell Computer. Need I say more?
Boycott Dell? Or boycott just about all American companies since they use Engineers and Techs from overseas.
Sounds to me like she better grow a brain sometime soon...
How does a woman like that manage to avoid drowning in the shower her whole life?
If this woman turns out to be blonde, she should be arrested for criminal stereotyping activity.
I’d have to see the nude photos involved to determine guilt or innocence. Judging by the original article pic I’m leaning to guilty.
She should have contacted someone at Dell here in the USA about this because ultimately they would be liable for damages.
You got that right. At what point does someone get put on notice that privacy is a different problem when you digitize things? Er... perhaps after the 3,439,821st story about some pervert who takes his PC to the Geek Squad and lo! He’s busted for child porn activity. If I only had a nickel for every one of those stories which has appeared and been heavily publicized in the past year, I’d be stinking rich. This woman is stupid/has been living under a rock for some time.
Here is what I say: there are crooks and perverts in India as well as America.
Dude, your getting a cell!
I think you have that order of events wrong.
It’s seems clear that the lady had a different problem, which she contacted Dell to remotely fix. The Dell guy found the pictures, downloaded them, then put them up on a website. Knowing her details (address, phone), he blackmailed her, making her buy him a computer to fix the problem he made.
Sure, she may have taken the photos, but they were hers on her computer. They weren’t to be taken by someone who did a scan of her computer while addressing the actual problem she first called about.
Doesn’t anyone use a Polaroid anymore?
Will this be one of the episodes of that new show coming out (Outsourced) this Fall?
This thread is worthless without pictures.
This thread is useless without pictures.
If this bothers you, just consider the fact that your medical records are being sent to India for transcription.
Yes, YOUR health records are or will be in the hands of cheap labor in India and you have no say about it.
How stupid is that?
