My ancestry traces back to America, Europe, and Africa, but it says “negro” on my birth certificate. It’s just a fact. Nothing to get worked up about, in my opinion.

I’m mixed Asian/English/Irish/Scottish............Can’t get much more “mongrel” than that!..........I’ve had several dogs over the years. The smartest and the most intelligent were the mongrels. My pure breds were basically stupid...................

Yep, and whites can have perhaps not quite as varied blood in significant amounts, but it’s called ‘white’ regardless. Obama was, in a shockingly rare case, just being straightforward.
Words have meanings. Mongrel is a pejorative term. But I guess that we have become so dumbed down that words no longer mean what the dictionary says. And some people can use the “N” word and not be called racist while others lose their jobs for saying it. Go figure.

No it’s not something to get worked up about, but he could have chosen a better comparison that a word that is usually associated with dogs of mixed breeds.
