President Obama instead, he's promoting himself and his agenda, sitting in the hot seat of the daytime talk show in an effort, once again, to go beyond the traditional media filter and speak directly to the American people, especially women.
In an exclusive preview clip that aired on "World News" tonight, Barbara Walters asked the president what the recent high and low points of his time in office had been.
"In the last month what has been the rose and what has been the thorn?" she asked, referring to an Obama family tradition of taking stock of their lives.
"In the last month the rose has to be a couple of days we took in Maine with Michelle, Sasha and Malia," he said. "They're full of opinions and ideas and observations and it's just a great age ... Malia just turned 12 and Sasha 9. Couldn't been a better couple of days."
Asked what the "thorn" had been, the president answered with his own question.
"Where do I begin?" he asked, getting a laugh from the audience. Obviously the country has gone through a tough stretch. Since I took office when I was sworn in ... the last 20 months have been a nonstop effort to restart the economy, to stabilize the financial system, to make sure we are creating jobs and not losing them."
Obama also cited the BP oil spill and battling the H1N1 swine flu "pandemic" as recent thorns.
So why sit down with "The View's" feisty and opinionated five hosts in the first place?
"I was trying to find a show that Michelle actually watched, and so I thought this is it, right here," he said. "All those new shows, she's like, eh, let me get the clicker."

I’ll raise you: MEGA-BARF!
And he said i had to deal with a pandemic He is such a sick joke
O’Bama gets the rose. We get the thorn.
Preying on weak-willed women has worked for the Rats for years, particularly single women who want government to take care of them because they have little chance of marriage.
If men were able to find jobs and pay fewer taxes, perhaps they could afford a wife and family as men in preceding generations did.
Roses??? All OUR money.....
Thorns???
Stuart Levine,
Nate Spencer,
Kal Pen,
Larry Bland,
Donald Young,
Larry Sinclair......
and APART from them....Lt. Quarles Harris.
Obama: Well... on the Roses side, you only need a Xerox copy of a birth announcement to be considered natural born.
Good lord..did they ask what his favorite color was or how bout his favorite food? Sounds like a Tiger Beat interview. I am so sick of this man and his lap dog media I could scream! Perhaps we should start a ‘night of screams’ at a specified date and time across this country. Something like..’I’m sick and tired of this Obama/Media crap and I’m not gonna take it anymore!’ LOL!
When I interned at nursing homes for my Health Information degree, I listened to stories from seniors who fondly remembered growing up during the time of President Coolidge. If anyone who personified the presidency, it was Coolidge.
"In the last month the rose has to be a couple of days we took in Maine with Michelle, Sasha and Malia," he said. "They're full of opinions and ideas and observations....."
Because almost all of them worship the ground he walks on and they provided a free campaign commercial for them under the guise of a talk show.
The problem with having a celebrity, rock star president is that he could end up in “rehab” at any moment.
LOL! He insulted nearly every other program on TV, basically their small screen Hollywood base! Talk about pandering.
My God. . the “ROSE” of his Presidency was A VACATION!!!UNFRIGGENBELIEVABLE
I couldn’t even get past the first sentence;
“President Obama instead, he’s promoting himself and his agenda, sitting in the hot seat of the daytime talk show in an effort, once again, to go beyond the traditional media filter and speak directly to the American people, especially women.”
Say, what???? What does the first part even MEAN? Do these people even READ what they write before sending it to their editors, and do THOSE editors ever bother actually doing their jobs? ANNOYING to say the least.
Did Elizabeth get giddy, or did she elect to miss this show. I don’t think I could do the job she does everyday - much less sit there and listen to the fawning over this overrated usurper. Did any of the women on “The View” ask ANY tough questions?
Wow. Way to call your wife stupid on national t.v.
OK, NM on that last post about the authors. I see now it was an error in copying...
Here are the first two paragraphs of the article as written:
Unlike most guests who come to ABC’s “The View,” President Obama does not have a new movie, album or reality show to promote.
Instead, he’s promoting himself and his agenda, sitting in the hot seat of the daytime talk show in an effort, once again, to go beyond the traditional media filter and speak directly to the American people, especially women.

That said, I find it disgusting that the President thinks it’s a good use of his time to go on a daytime talk show. As if there is NOTHING else in the WORLD that deserves his attention — and I’m NOT referring to his golf game! Also, I’d HARDLY call sitting on “The View” as being in the “hot seat”.
