Where is the Republican platform? I hear they're all scared again and acting too wimpy to agree to one...Paul Ryan's is apparently too "mature" to embrace. Argghh!
One poster on American Thinker, "MajorMajor" said this:
"If you want to see people fight over each other to get in the voting booth, all you have to do is promise the following: 1. Repeal Obamacare and Financial Reform. 2. Extend the Bush Tax Cuts and create new ones like no capital gain tax. 3. Pledge to reduce spending by 10% across the board every year for the next four years, no exceptions!!! 4. Seal the borders and prosecute all employees who hire illegals. Eliminate all aid and assistance to illegals. When you cut off their jobs and assistance, the illegals will leave on their own. 5. The job is done in Iraq, withdraw the troops immediately.
People want their jobs back, they want prosperity and most importantly, they want their freedoms restored. The party who delivers will get my vote and will win in 2010. "
Man o man, I agree with him 100%. There seems to be a disease among Republicans that we, their constituents, are too touchy feely to agree to something mature or realistic. It's like the "we want the media to like us so badly we will do anything" syndrome.
There is a huge chasm between the Conservatives and the Republicans. Republicans can no longer take Conservative votes for granted. Look at Newt. He is championing RINOs as they will help the Republican Party (NOT!). He is a Republican first and only.
That’s why we don’t have a “Republican” stance. The party is fractured because Conservatives have said ENOUGH! No more RINOs. No more uncontrolled spending. And it doesn’t matter which party you belong to, if you believe this, you’re going to be targeted. Each member is running individually, with RINOs running scared.
Actually, the GOP 'leadership' will do a lot to make sure the elected representatives don't try to implement the will of the people who elected them.
There is no real two-party system. It's all just theatre...
GOP leadership cares more at getting a ‘seat at the dinner table’ with the lefties and being liked by the media than actually agreeing on a plan.
Umm. The ‘Pubbies had alternatives for health care, the budget, etc. The MSM decided we didn’t need to hear about it and let Pelosi and co. say stuff like “Where is your alternative?” without challenge.
The same probably is occurring here. The ‘Pubbies have a platform: Make the Bush tax cuts permanent, roll back health care rationing, etc. But you’re not going hear a darn thing from the MSM.
Right — Republican Party is populated by too many gutless RINO’s to TAKE principled positions on these issues — and many more. They want to get elected because they “are not Democrats.” Which will work for ONE election cycle. BUT it’s NOT leadership — and it WON’T save our nation nor restore our Constitutional Republic.
In 1937, U.S. Senator Josiah Bailey of North Carolina was concerned that President Franklin Delano Roosevelt and his New Deal programs were leading America and North Carolina down the road to collectivism. Although he did not oppose every attempt at government intervention, Senator Bailey believed that limitations should be placed on government growth...
The planning and writing of the manifesto were done without the knowledge of FDR. Eventually the secretive work of the bi-partisan alliance was leaked, and fearing political repercussions, many Senators denied any involvement with the creation of the Conservative Manifesto. Bailey, however, accepted responsibility.
According to Moore, the Conservative Manifestos ten points were as follows:
1. Immediate revision of taxes on capital gains and undistributed profits in order to free investment funds.
2. Reduced expenditures to achieve a balanced budget, and thus, to still fears deterring business expansion.
3. An end to coercion and violence in relations between capital and labor.
4. Opposition to unnecessary government competition with private enterprise.
5. Recognition that private investment and enterprise require a reasonable profit.
6. Safeguarding the collateral upon which credit rests.
7. Reduction of taxes, or if this proved impossible at the moment, firm assurance of no further increases.
8. Maintenance of state rights, home rule, and local self-government, except where proved definitely inadequate.
9. Economical and non-political relief to unemployed with maximum local responsibility. 10. Reliance upon the American form of government and the American system of enterprise.
Where is the Democrat platform?
Worms have no backbone to stand up.
Those 5 things sound exactly like Rand/Ron Paul’s platform. Perhaps a tad on the light side, but all in all, very much so.
I also happen to agree with all 5 points.
